The Rock Tavern Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Piedmont Bluz.
~~~~~ The Piedmont Blūz Acoustic Duo are ambassadors of Country Blues music and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking, and their mission is to help preserve these rural, east coast traditions by educating audiences about this unique aspect of African American culture through musical entertainment. The husband and wife duo are much loved wherever they go. They feel that "there are stories to tell, people to remember, and things that must be said" so they weave a bit of history into the presentation of each song. ~~~~~ Open mic performances will be available to all. The Zoom meeting opens at 7 for signin, sound check, and socializing. The open mic begins at 7:30. Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Len Seligman Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Folk/Traditional | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY See Map |
LEN SELIGMAN (pronounced "SELL-ig-min") is a Sarasota, Florida-based singer-songwriter and string instrument virtuoso. His awards include First Place, 2015 Great American Song Contest and Finalist, Best Video, 2018 Positive Music Awards.
OUR TURN NOW is his third album. Seligman says, "I hope it will inspire joy and a feeling of connection with all life. Themes include gratitude, loss, playfulness, mindfulness, and the ongoing struggle to create a more just and compassionate world." The title track, which reached #14 on the Folk Alliance International Folk DJ chart as an advance single for October 2020, pays tribute to civil rights icon John Lewis and all who get into "good trouble" to advance the cause of human rights. Commenting on the album, award-winning recording artist (and Bonnie Raitt's long-time bassist) Freebo called it "a lovely, very upbeat, positive, and relevant album! It is beautifully produced, brilliantly played, with a whole bunch of well-written, excellent songs."
Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Amy Kucharik Singer-Songwriter, Folk/Traditional, and Blues | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY See Map |
Kerrville New Folk winning songwriter/performer Amy Kucharik [/kuh-CHAR-ick/] energizes swing dance, folk and ukulele festival, and listening room audiences alike. Drawing from blues, folk and Vaudeville traditions and with a street-smart stagecraft honed in the subways of Boston, Amy transports her audience to a place both timeless and innovative. She performs as a one-woman band with ukulele, tenor guitar, foot percussion, mouth trumpet and harmonica, or with ensembles that include top New England jazz and Americana musicians. Combining poignant, witty lyricism and an infectious, danceable swing, Amy’s music draws comparisons to Maria Muldaur, Lake Street Dive, and Anais Mitchell. Amy was a formal showcase artist at SWRFA in 2015, WFMT Folk DJ Rich Warren’s pick for the DJ showcase at NERFA in 2016, and was selected as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist for 2018. Her second full-length album of original music, "Until the Words Are Gone," was released in 2018.
