| George Ensle (pronounced Enslee) started out in Houston Folk clubs in 1967, sharing stages with Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. He sings StorySongs, delivered with his intricate finger picking style on 6 string, Resonator, and 12 String guitars. And sometimes he adds a keyboard to the mix. He is a member of the Texas Arts Commission Touring Artist Roster and has been inducted into the Houston Folk Music Archives at Rice University. In addition to songwriting awards, he’s received Government grants to teach songwriting through the Artist in Schools program. He has released 15 albums in the US and Europe and is the creator of PortraitSongs, a custom songwriting service. He is an album Producer for other Artists and conducts songwriting workshops. Some call him a Songpainter. His stories ring true. His characters are real. You feel like you know them, or wish you did.

A chamber music ensemble is generally a place most parents would not take their 1-year-old, but that will not be a problem when the Tesla String Quartet takes the stage for their Young Mavericks concert. Questions, dancing and curiosity are all part of Tesla’s “Rug Concerts” program for preschool children and their parents. This concert is designed for enjoyment by children ages toddler to 8. Haydn: Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI: 50; Debussy: Two Arabesques; Liszt: Sonata in B minor. Jenny Chen is currently a doctoral candidate at the Eastman School of Music and is staff pianist at the Curtis Institute of Music. She has won numerous prizes and awards, including top prizes at the Vienna National Piano Competition and the New York International Piano Competition. She has performed with orchestras around the world with many highly regarded conductors, and has received audience acclaim appearing in solo and chamber music performances across the United States and internationally. Admission is by donation. Donors to Friends of Maverick of $75 since August 24, 2019 receive a ticket for one unreserved seat to the concert. Donors of $150 or more receive two tickets. Regular Maverick tickets are not valid for this concert and there is no “Rock Bottom” seating. The Rock Tavern Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Janie March.
~~~~~ Janie March has played guitar since she was in 8th grade, and wrote her first basic song at the age of 14. She has attended SummerSongs and Cedar Run songwriting camps, as well as several singer/ songwriter workshops. Her latest CD release is called, "I Love to See You Smile," a collection of family-oriented educational stories and songs that span the seasons. An advocate for special education, Janie recorded an Autism awareness EP, "In His Eyes / Living with Autism,". All the proceeds from both recordings will be donated to the Anderson Center for Autism, the organization that has helped her son for more than thirteen years. ~~~~~ Open mic performances will be available to all. The Zoom meeting opens at 7 for signin, sound check, and socializing. The open mic begins at 7:30. | ||
