Long ago he developed a tenor saxophone sound for his temperament. His starting place is bebop’s complex language, but he seems to be listening to something underneath language and style, something that could be well illustrated by jazz but isn’t specific to it. He’s good with a particular rhythm, or a structure, or a set of changes, but he doesn’t need any of it. And so an ideal Joe Lovano performance might be one that sounds good with New York’s advanced-harmony killer elite, but that could be effectively cut and pasted over a trap beat or a string quartet or scale exercises or traffic sounds. https://bobmeyermusic.com/ "How could [Wayne Horvitz Trio] go wrong with ....Bob Meyer on Drums? I was awed by the complexities of .... by this master of the trap set....his uncanny ability to increase intensity while maintaining a low volume level." - Earshot Jazz (Seattle) Meyer's vast experience as a performer, recording artist and educator explains his long and stellar list of collaborators and session work - Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Sheila Jordan, Paul McCanless, Diane Schurr, Stanley Cowell, Mal Waldron, Itzhak Perlman, James Moody, Avishai Cohen, among many others. Bob is currently leading The Bob Meyer Project, with Steven Frieder, Luke Franco and Peter Brendler. The band has released their CD Scabiosa; available on iTunes and CD Baby. | ||

"electric, incredible and rocking.... ripping white-hot blues-rock produced by....the amazing Popa Chubby" FEATURING ~ Steve Balkun/Guitar/Thumb-Bone Bass/Vocals, Nick Balkun/Drums/Vocals, Special Guest ~Tommy Weeks (Funky Dawgz Brass Band): Saxophone https://www.balkunbrothers.com/ Known for their explosive live shows, internationally touring rock n’ roll band, Balkun Brothers is reinventing the term “power duo” with their heavy hitting, new-age, psychedelic rock n' roll. Face-melting guitar riffs are met with a wall of earth-quaking bass drum hits. This ferocious flaming meteor of a duo grew up studying the sounds of Son House, Johnny Winter, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters, then smashing the knowledge together with Motorhead, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, The Doors, Motley Crue and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their sophomore album, ‘DEVIL ON TV’, was released on French Record label, Dixiefrog Records, and delivered the kind of honest songwriting and personal experience that connects with fans of all ages. They return to their rock and blues roots on the latest album, The Sun Studio Sessions. The brothers pay tribute to their musical forefathers with songs ranging from fast, up-tempo rock anthems to dirty, sweat-covered, backwoods delta blues. Engineered by Sun Studios owner, Ples Hampton, using the same vintage soundboard, microphones and tape delays that Phillips utilized in the 1950's. The album was recorded overnight, just how Sam Phillips used to do it with the blues legends, in the same room that captured countless hits.
