For over a decade Brian Molnar has been carrying his acoustic guitar and wrought melodies across the US and Europe, connecting audiences with a feeling of American tradition. Now, with a new album of traditional songs, Old Paint, and sharing the stage with contemporaries Ralph Stanley, Chris Hillman, Bernie Worrell, Garth Hudson, Neal Cassal, and Kinky Friedman, it seems that a genuine Americana resurgence is upon us.

Brian is credited with the production of Kinky Friedman’s last two albums, The Loneliest Man I Ever Met (2015) and The Circus of Life (2018), the artist’s first two album’s since the 1970s, are both critically acclaimed and loved by all. Over the past few years, Brian and Kinky have toured the country as well as overseas, selling out venues everywhere.

Roots & Shoots Concerts Series

Blues, Rock (classic), and Soul
Spencertown Academy Arts Center

Spencertown, NY   See Map
Over the past five years, the Amy Ryan Band has gained an enthusiastic following for its high-energy blend of blues, rock, and soul. In 2015, the group won Capital Region Blues Network’s qualifying competition to represent the region at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Guitarist Richard Green saw an opportunity to join forces with a gutsy female singer with the potential to lead a great blues band. Melding Ryan’s country-blues vocals and Green’s urban blues and rock sensibilities, the band also includes bassist Dave Imbaratto, drummer Mark McKay and keyboard player Ed Stein. Their repertoire includes band adaptations of Ryan’s self-penned solo tunes, newly minted originals, and select covers. General admission tickets ($20 public, $15 Academy members, and $10 students) may be purchased in advance via www.spencertownacademy.org and, pending availability, will be available at the door.

This classic rock band from the Hudson Valley, led by Fred Zepplin, has developed a reputation for unconventional song selection, soaring vocals and a unique performance style - unexpected from a ukulele-fronted band! The band celebrates Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, David Bowie, Pearl Jam, and of course Led Zeppelin.

Although Fred Zepplin has opened for numerous national acts, their tagline "Live, local and homegrown rock" is well-respected and supported in clubs and bars throughout the neighboring territories.

Fred Zepplin has headlined at notable Hudson Valley venues, including The Falcon and The Falcon Underground; The Chance Theatre, Sugarloaf Performing Art Center, Orange County Choppers Cafe and Brian's Backyard BBQ.
