“This is an album that will need to be listened to and not just played in the background. It has to marinate in your musical soul--It is for select tastes and for discriminating ears. It will make an impression…it will.” — John Apice, No Depression

https://cpjjmusic.com/

This folk/Americana duo from Baton Rouge, LA, borrows from and transforms traditional Southern cornerstones such as folk, blues, country, and Americana. However, though the duo remains loyal to the heritage that brought them together, Clay and Jodi are unafraid of experimenting further, often intermixing mellow psychedelia and cosmic country into their classic harmonies.

For The Lonesomest Sound That Can Sound, the duo worked closely with multiple engineers, studios, and mixers, including Denton Hatcher at the Blue Velvet Studio and Joshua St. Moblo at the Bakery Sound Studio.

1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Ben Monder and Tony Malaby, whose musical relationship goes back 20 years, team up with veteran master drummer Billy Mintz for a night of sonic explorations.

"Mr. Monder has a deep rapport with Mr. Malaby: Depending on the moment, they can seem like dance partners, sparring partners or members of a relay team. What they create is hallucinatory, indebted both to free-jazz avatars like Albert Ayler and the combustible side of prog-rock. " - New York Times

Mr. Malaby, a tenor and soprano saxophonist drawn about equally to ecstatic turbulence and reflective calm, convenes two excellent partners in this new trio: the guitarist Ben Monder and the drummer Billy Mintz, both expert colorists with an ability to duck in and out of established form. - Nate Chinen

A New York lyric and rhythm-driven Indie Singer/Songwriter, Tina Ross, with her soulful, emotion-soaked vocals, has been performing since age ten. Tina’s music has been described as “essence writing” as she forages for and captures the unifying threads common to our mutual experience. Her songs have been recognized as an Honorable Mention winner in The John Lennon Songwriting contest, and a Folk/Country Category Finalist in The UK Songwriting contest. After studying Biology and Voice in college she chose the predictable life of a Chiropractor and Nutritionist. She is now reconnecting to her musical roots and stepping out and trading that in for the gloriously creative and mindful path of a Singer/Songwriter. Tina crafts songs that draw from diverse influences; her folk roots as well as artists like Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, the blues of Robert Johnson and the vocals of Sarah Vaughn and Etta James.

A celebration of good times, guitar pickin', harmony singing and all the great songs of yesteryear. The Three Gentlemen are longtime friends who have played together under many circumstances. This band formed around the music of Texas, where Konrad is from, leading them to dig into the music of Willie, Waylon, and Townes. Northeasterners Rod and Dan, grew up as rockers, leaning into Elvis, Chuck Berry and the British Invasion that followed.

The band has played hundreds of times throughout the NYC scene and is beginning to venture out to new territories.

"Guitar star Dylan Doyle delights audiences, but frustrates anyone trying to define his sound....It isn’t the 19-year-old’s job to define it. It’s his job to play it. And that’s what the Dylan Doyle Band will do..." -- Wisconsin News

http://www.dylandoyleband.com/

Dylan's album, DYLAN DOYLE : LIVE AT THE FALCON (2017), places him, happily, in the venue and in front of the audience that has supported his work since his early teens.

After sharing the stage with the young musician in Memphis, Ben Cauley, sole survivor of the Otis Redding plane crash and co-founder of the Bar-Kays likened Dylan to a young Jimi Hendrix.

When asked about the wave of young talent rising from the Hudson Valley, Van Morrison guitarist John Platania commented “Dylan Doyle is the future.”

Bill Payne of Little Feat described Dylan’s work as “imaginative and original.”

Marji brings a long and diverse performance resume, working in myriad settings since the 1970s as a vocalist and guitarist. She has performed in voice/double bass duets with such notable players as Mike Richmond, Jay Anderson, Josef Pelletier, and Vin Warner. Diane Diachishin and Lynn Meeker perform together as the female duo "Madeline". Both play guitar and sing, and their love for old-time music shines through in their sublime, tight harmonies, sung in that high, lonesome style characteristic of Appalachian music. At a recent performance they were introduced as "Our very own Louvin Sisters".

Diane and Lynn sing Appalachian music recorded by artists such as Ola Belle Reed, Alice Gerrard, Hazel Dickens, as well as their own original material.

The open mic portion of the evening is a great opportunity for newcomers and seasoned performers to share their music with a welcoming and appreciative audience. All styles of music, as well as spoken word, are welcome. Piano available.

Admission to the coffeehouse is $6 general admission and $5 for Folk Guild members and seniors. For more information on the coffeehouse series, call 845-372-5012.

Celebrating the extraordinary music and life of George Harrison, The Dark Horses, a powerhouse line-up of nine Orange County musicians, bring to life Harrison’s musical legacy from his Cavern Club days with the Beatles, through his solo career, including collaborations with Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, and The Traveling Wilburys.

The stories behind the music form a narrative that connects the music to a generation for which Harrison’s music was a soundtrack, while creating context for a newer musical generation. Less a nostalgic road trip than a musical timeline that we somehow continue to discover.

In fact, if The New York Times were to attend a performance, it would probably use words like, "awesome," "transcendent" and "mind-roasting" ...at least somewhere in the same issue... to describe something,...or maybe in a quote...
