"This band sounds like no other today in Jazz." – DownBeat Magazine [listing Jane Bunnett & Maqueque as one of the Top 10 Jazz Groups in its most recent Critics Poll]

http://www.janebunnett.com/

Maqueque (pronounced “Mah-Keh-Keh”), Jane Bunnett's exciting, energetic, all-female, Afro-Cuban ensemble, has seen each player grow into an accomplished composer and confident leader, as the music has grown more and more cohesive.

Highlights of ON FIRM GROUND / TIERRA FIRME include three new Jane Bunnett compositions, including "Monkey See, Monkey Do". Producer Larry Cramer contributes a stunning take on John Coltrane's "Moment's Notice," done in a conga style and clocking in just under three minutes.

In conjunction with the album's release, MAQUEQUE kicks off a 20-date run this summer and fall!

Roland Vasquez’s brilliant career spans over 30 years and features a long list of accolades, awards, grants and performances. Known for his compositional prowess and latin jazz drumming, Vasquez’s style can be described in a review of his 2016 album “Revelation" (Afro Bop Alliance):

"...the balance of the program is devoted to the work of Roland Vazquez, whose involved and boundlessly imaginative scores establish him as one of the major jazz composers of our time. Vazquez' accomplishments (as drummer and composer) stretch back to the mid-1970's, including a pivotal stint with his mentor Clare Fischer. A seasoned educator as well, Vazquez has amassed a varied output including works for big bands, orchestra, chamber groups, percussion ensembles and more. His 2010 release "The Visitor" earned wide acclaim and brought much deserved attention to this great and underrated voice in large-ensemble jazz." David R. Adler - New York, May 2016)

"A pint-sized powerhouse of a singer." - The Washington Times.

“Lloyd’s voice has a powerful emotional and technical range, using everything from a delicate whisper to a bluesy growl to breathe life into folk narratives.” – The Morning Call.

Formerly a journalist, Lloyd writes songs steeped in narrative and inspired by slam poetry. Her originals “Good Heart” and “If We Come Too Late” recently won the Bernard Ebb Songwriting Award of $10,000. Lloyd also was named “Most Wanted Artist” in 2108 at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, an accolade she won with her band ilyAIMY in 2012 as well.

Heather will be joined by her long time musical collaborator and ilyAIMY band founder Rob Hinkal for this performance.

The concert will be held at Flying Cat Music's new venue, inside the Phoenicia United Methodist Church (not the Hall next door). $15 advance tickets can be bought online at Flying Cat's website. Or pay $18 cash at the door, which opens at 7:00pm

The hits of Gary U.S Bonds were and still remain an irresistible invitation to an instant party! As America’s baby boomers moved into their mid teens and real rock ‘n roll was dwindling supply, Gary came roaring out of Norfolk, Virginia in 1960 with the relentless pounder “New Orleans”. Attention was brought to the record by having promotional copies sent to radio stations in sleeves inscribed “Buy U.S. Bonds”- hence at age 19, Gary Anderson became Gary U.S. Bonds. The follow-up was the now legendary ‘party’ record, “Quarter to Three,” a number one hit with a spirit and energy that would eventually inspire and influence a generation. In fact, the Rock and Roll of Fame lists “Quarter to Three: as one of the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.Over the next three years, Gary co-wrote and recorded hit after good-time hit; “School is Out,” “School is In,” “Dear Lady Twist,” “Twist, Twist Senora,” “Seven Day Weekend” and others.

The band celebrates Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, David Bowie, Pearl Jam, and of course Led Zeppelin.

Although Fred Zepplin has opened for numerous national acts, their tagline "Live, local and homegrown rock" is well-respected and supported in clubs and bars throughout the neighboring territories.

Fred Zepplin has headlined at notable Hudson Valley venues, including The Falcon and The Falcon Underground; The Chance Theatre, Sugarloaf Performing Art Center, Orange County Choppers Cafe and Brian's Backyard BBQ.
