The Quatuor Danel was founded in 1991 and is famous for their bold, concentrated interpretations of the string quartet cycles of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Shostakovich, and Weinberg. Their lively and fresh interpretations of the traditional quartet repertoire have earned rave reviews from the public and press alike. Quatuor Danel is a regular guest at festivals such as Ottawa, Kuhmo, Cork, Lofoten, Schleswig-Holstein, Bregenz, Schostakowitsch Tage Gorisch, Luzern Zaubersee, Sakharov Festival, Richter Festival, Enescu Festival, Fayence, Luberon, Montpellier, Folle Journée de Nantes and Musica Mundi.
Woodstock: the word is shorthand for the 1960s counterculture. Artists as well as writers and musicians contributed to Woodstock’s reputation as a bohemian enclave. As early as 1952 experimental composer John Cage debuted his (in)famous 4’33” — four-and-half minutes of silence. Inspired by Cage, avant-garde artist Allan Kaprow staged a 1962 “Happening” in the forests outside Woodstock for which sculptor Eva Hesse made her first three-dimensional piece. Gerd Stern, an intermedia pioneer and founder of the experimental art collective USCO, moved to Woodstock in 1964. In the late 1960s New York School painter Philip Guston moved to Maverick Road to reinvent his practice. This lecture will explore Woodstock as a ferment of art, experimentation, and creativity in the 1960s, a period in which artists as much as writers and musicians contributed to a growing counterculture opposed to mainstream values.

The Woodstock Celtic Session is a weekly gathering of Traditional musicians who come together to enjoy and play Irish music and more in a pub setting. All are welcome to play or listen in an acoustic unplugged pub setting. We’ve been playing together every Monday night for since 2002!

For nearly 30 years Big Joe Fitz has been one of the leading personalities on the Hudson Valley music Scene. Big Joe brings together some of the most highly regarded musicians on the northeast music scene. Their sound features a sophisticated blend of Jazz and Blues which is always soulful, always swinging, and always in an engaging style that never fails to connect with the audience. 
Two great noise artists from out of town are coming to Kingston on tour, at E. Strand Arts Space (on the waterfront).

The Southern Dutchess Concert Band will be giving an outdoor concert this evening at Schlathaus Park, sponsored by the Town Of Wappinger. The park is located at the intersection of County Route 93/Myers Corners Road and County Route 94/All Angels Road. Admission is Free and there is bleacher seating, but bring your lawn chairs to enjoy the concert in comfort. The 50-piece Southern Dutchess Concert Band will be performing a selection of show tunes, popular standards, marches, light classical and wind ensemble music. Highlights will include John Philip Sousa's "The Liberty Bell" March, Aaron Copland's "An Outdoor Overture", music from "West Side Story", and soundtrack music from Pixar's "The Incredibles". The Southern Dutchess Concert Band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion musicians from southern Dutchess County and surrounding areas. If it rains, this concert may be rescheduled. Well-acclaimed family/community event held annually on the second Saturday of August. Blueberry Pancake Breakfast 7:30 a.m. ~ 11 a.m. Hosted by Pioneer Engine Co.#1 Fire Company, annual fundraiser at Norbury Hall, Center Street. There is a donation fee for the breakfast. The festival from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. will include exhibits and a street fair open to the public. Free access to the public. There will be exhibits heralding our Shawangunk Mountains and cultural heritage, live music, children’s area and activities, raffles, a variety of great foods, delicious blueberry goodies of all kinds including a home-made blueberry pie baking contest and175-plus vendors including crafts, merchandise, health and other non-profit organizations. Something for everyone - and it’s not all blueberry.
ROOTS UP! is what we (Dog Nose Productions) hope to be the first in a continuing yearly event of an Original Music Festival at the High Falls Cafe. Performers are Marji Zintz, Princes of Serendip, Trio Mio, Dog Knows! and The Cob's Cabin Band. It's an outdoor Clambake/BBQ(rain or shine). For the 17th year in a row, the Goshen Public Library will be hosting The Big Band Sound jazz orchestra to bring you a concert of the best of the big bands from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This concert will be held on the beautiful and shaded lawn of the Library. Admission is Free, thanks to the sponsor, Norton & Christensen! In addition to the concert, there will be a complimentary Ice Cream Social! It'll be hosted by the Friends Of The Goshen Public Library & Historical Society. Goshen's own "What's The Scoop" shop is generously donating their ice cream and scooping services. An evening celebrating the music of maestro Ravi Shankar, performed by his senior disciple, Barun Kumar Pal playing the Hamsavina, Samir Chatterjee, who accompanied Ravi ji on tabla for many years, and Steve Gorn, whose Bansuri flute has been a leading voice of Indian music in the west. Our program will feature ragas composed by Ravi Shankar, and brief remembrances by our guest performers.
Grammy award winning artist Shunzo Ohno is a "brilliant trumpet stylist" whose playing and original compositions have touched millions. A versatile musician who has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, and many others. Mr. Ohno has 16 recordings under his own name as a leader and has appeared on over thirty more as a sideman. 
Join The Canal Street String Band, NY State Presenters Network “performing artists of the highest professional caliber,” to explore the deep well of American music that inspired The Grateful Dead, and discover some fascinating stories behind the music. With fiddle, banjo, dobro, jaw harp, string bass, guitar, mandolin, three voices, and a pair of cow bones, this program delights the uninitiated right alongside the Deadheads in the crowd.
