Poet Gold's POELODIES, Special Guest: Dana BoltonThe FALCON & The FALCON UNDERGROUND
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Poet Gold assembles a fresh new line-up of brilliant spoken word and musical artists every fourth Wednesday. The Falcon's highly encouraged DONATION policy will support these wonderful living artists.

Twenty three year old Dana Bolton has found herself tapping into different forms of ink, "writing out truths in the shape of water". Her passion began with pen and paper. When asked how she has evolved so far as a writer, her answer is, heartbreak, a bit of reminiscence, and fire in her veins. "I believe there is a growth, and strength in vulnerability. Challenging yourself brings out a side that you never thought you'd discover and fall in love with."

Host Poet Gold’s poetry balances the written word with performance, delivering Spoken Word Poetry that is both transformative and entertaining. She is the recipient of the 2016 Dutchess County Executive’s “Artivist” award and appointed the 2017 and 2018 NYS Dutchess County Poet Laureate.

Poet Gold is an activist of the heart.

"He's as close as a modern-day Buddy Holly as you can get, with his spare, melodic sound instantly evoking the Crickets, and he writes standards just as good as the Man himself."

Fifty years ago, a left turn from history’s game-changing rock band, the Beatles followed up Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - widely viewed as the dawn of the album era, in which LPs were conceived not as a collection of singles but a cohesive artistic statement - with a self-titled splatter of ideas spanning two discs and countless stylistic permutations.

From their most meticulous, carefully crafted work they pivoted to ideas largely written in isolation during a transcendental meditation retreat in India. Many of those ideas were strokes of genius. Taken together, they became a monument to the Beatles’ boundless confidence and restless creativity half a decade into their reign as the biggest band in the world. - Chris DeVille / Stereo Gum

The album's sleeve was designed by pop artist Richard Hamilton.... in stark contrast to Peter Blake's vivid cover art for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Featuring Nate Liebert on guitar & Vocals, Matt Krane on keyboards, and Matt Kopec on drums, Soundstream is a newly formed band that blends elements from jazz, folk, hip hop, and R&B. After meeting each other while studying to pursue a degree in jazz performance, the trio quickly noticed a strong musical report and began playing together outside the classroom. A shared vision quickly emerged and the three started working on their first single, “Slow & Steady” which is set to be released later this year. With a blend of electronic elements along with live instruments, Soundstream takes from a variety of influences that have given them a unique sound.

"....Klein's [music]...doesn't have much to do with current trends in the rest of jazz, but only jazz musicians could be making it. It is not the only way or the true way; it is just one excellent, original way." - Ben Ratliff, The New York Times

An extraordinary line-up, led by a true jazz composer for large ensembles - Guillermo Klein - a source of inspiration worldwide, whose jazz is built from the ground up, with ideas about instrumentation, rhythm, harmony, and gesture.

Having grown up on a farm in Scotland, ON, Benjamin Dakota Rogers is a distinctive, emotive and gritty singer-songwriter whose sound challenges the definition of the folk genre, reaching far beyond to include influences of roots, blues and country music. Benjamin's music is genuine, emotionally-charged folk, that can only be delivered from the honesty, strength and grit of a farm boys hands.
