The music of Jason Kao Hwang explores the vibrations and language of his history. His compositions are often narrative landscapes through which sonic beings embark upon extemporaneous, transformational journeys.

Hwang has said the way he mediates among his various musical worlds is a mix of conscious and unconscious processes: Some of the music is plotted out and some just floats to the top because of who he is. That natural flow is one of his strengths. The mixing doesn't feel contrived.

He released Blood, performed by Burning Bridge, his octet of Chinese and Western instruments, in 2018. Downbeat Magazine named his quintet recording Sing House, one of the Best CDs of 2017.

As violinist, he has worked with Karl Berger, Anthony Braxton, William Parker, Butch Morris, Ivo Perlman, Oliver Lake, Reggie Workman, Pauline Oliveros, Tomeka Reid, Patrick Brennan, and many others.

Shane auditioned for and attended Berklee College of Music, and "the secret" was out! Mentored by some of the finest professors Berklee would offer, he was eventually guided to NYC and started performing, and continues to perform on a weekly basis, all over NYC, either solo or with his band.

Shane is recording his sophomore EP in Upstate NY. The first single was released in February 2019, and picked up by iHeart Radio's “Modern Singer-Songwriter” playlist, in the company of Sara Bareilles, Gary Clark Jr, and Shallow, the hit single from A Star is Born.

AMG demonstrates a departure! Their first all-acoustic show!

https://www.facebook.com/alphamalegorillas/

"AMG are the Godfathers, Grandfathers, and Illegitimate Fathers of the HeaVy Mellow sound. We'll chill ya as hard as we'll thrill ya-- and the words and the music speak loud enough to kill ya."

AMG traverses the worlds of rock, blues, hip hop and reggae, with elements of psychedelic. The band coined the term "HeaVy Mellow" in 2010 while recording their second album, "No Working Title",to put a name on the feeling being recorded.

With six officially-active members, and a small army of like-minded comrades waiting in the wings, AMG has consistently headlined the biggest small festival in Upstate New York - MAZZSTOCK since 2008 - founded by Big Lee Mazzola, the mandatory annual all night jam session has grown and matured, but thankfully not too much.

Tangent returns to The Captain's Table in Monroe on Saturday, April 20th from 9:30 pm to 1:30 am. We're bringing our very own Rock Show to you! Call the troops, as a night out is at hand! Great venue (Ray & The.Best.Team.), amazing food and a live music atmosphere unmatched in Southern Orange County; come for an evening dinner and stay for an amazing night of entertainment. The show starts a little before 10 pm so a night of revelry is in store! We'll be bringing our best new songs, greatest performance rock and enough dance tunes to fill the menu of your shoes and soul with foot stomping, heartbeat racing music that we're known for. Some new songs, old favorites and those songs you heard this morning on the radio. We thank you for your support over these past 26 years and know that music venues like The Table survive on your patronage and support. Without you, we don't get to do this so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
