"The Big Takeover heats up its classic reggae and ska stylings with a horn-powered Motown bounce and pop verve straight from the 1960s and ’70s." - PULSE

https://www.bigtakeoverband.com/

Traditionalists or progressives? Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, the seven-piece New York band The Big Takeover plays original music that is rooted in and reverent toward the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop: reggae, rocksteady, ska. They are devotees of Desmond Dekker and the way the old school did it.

At the same time, The Big Takeover crosses lines and blends traditions like global pop fusionists. Their deceptively complex arrangements and big hooks connect with the spirit of Motown and the uptown sophistication of the 21st century retro soul and R&B revival scene.

“Meet new school old school crooner BSKi, (pronounced “bee-skee”) with a touch Jamiroquai and neo-soul, it’s the pure poetry he’s writing that takes his sound to another level…” -Elevtrtrax.com

Brian Collazo, also known as BSKi is a singer and songwriter based in New York City. The first generation “Nuyorican” grew up in Haverstraw, NY listening to his father play guitar and sing classic boleros by the likes of Rafael Hernandez and Trío Vegabajeño.

His own music blends R&B, Funk & Hip-Hop with latin rhythms in a style he half-jokingly refers to as “Sancocho Funk” (sancocho=stew or gumbo), adding a tongue-in-cheek lyrical approach for a uniquely personal sound. BSKi’s new single You’re a Dream (to Wake Up to) is available on all streaming outlets.

"Zigmund is a rare subspecies of jazz drummer who firmly supports his mates in ways that often go unnoticed." - David A. Orthmann, ALL ABOUT JAZZ

“Feather touch response and subtle cymbal work bring each piece to sizzling fruition” - Kirk Winters, JAZZIZ

“Zigmund is that breed of percussionist who does not count their pride alongside their visible signs of virtuosity. He is in every way a musician with extensive experience but above all the art of listening.” - JAZZMAN MAGAZINE
