Robbie, an only child, longed to have a brother or sister. Music came to him naturally. How can you not end up writing & arranging songs when your grandpa relives his silent movie days on the piano every day at 6am, mom is singing opera & your uncle is perfecting ballads & poems?
Why Folk music? Robbie’s dad was sent on assignment to photograph Lightfoot in ‘68. “Who the hell is that” his dad asked? To which, Gordon educated him by giving him a stack of his LP’s. Those albums became Robbie’s prized possessions then eagerly added Pete Seeger, Pentangle, Stan Rogers, etc.
Meanwhile Kath had the harmony-rich sounds of Ian & Sylvia, PP&M, Simon & Garfunkel & her dad’s Barbershop quartet on her turntable.
9 years ago Kath paused at her restaurant, heard Robbie’s songs, tried out some harmony with him, & promptly gave him a swift kick in the behind saying “let’s get your gorgeous songs out there”. Bingo! There she was – the sister Robbie had wished |

Hughes has opened shows for Willie Nelson, Dr. John, Leon Russell, Kasey Musgraves, Rodney Crowell, Norman Blake, The Ramones, English Beat and Cat Power and jazz legend Jimmy Smith.
He’s toured with Mike Gordon (of Phish) & Ramble Dove, plays guitar in a recording side project with Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello, and has welcomed hundreds of musicians to the tiny stage of Burlington, Vermont’s Radio Bean as the host of a ten-years-long weekly residency, Honky Tonk Tuesday.
And Levon Helm once told him, “just keep playing and be sure to enjoy the hell out of it,” to which Brett replied “hell, Levon—I’m a lifer.”

Chris has been a band member, recorded or shared the stage with The Legendary Jimmy McGriff, Bruce Katz, Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band, Jerry Jemmot, Tad Robinson, The Chris O’Leary Band, Dennis Gruenling, Roxy Perry, Jeremy Baum, Joel Frahm, and Bernard Purdie, among others. He has appeared on over 30 albums and continues to perform nationally and internationally.
Bass player extraordinaire, Matt Raymond has played with a virtual who's-who of blues music greats, including Hubert Sumlin, Steve Guyger, Paul Oscher, Charlie Jones, and with with American music legends Levon Helm and Bettye LaVette.
Matt has held down the chair as house bass player at Dave Gross' Fat Rabbit Studios for several years. Matt equally adept at both upright and Fender bass. He is currently a full time member of the Chris O’Leary Band. |

 We're pleased to welcome Drew Bordeaux back to our 12 Grapes stage! Drew has opened for Daughtry and Boz Scaggs and performed at the 2016 Pleasantville Music Fest. Catch this up-close-and-personal performance.
Drew's sets are rooted in percussive acoustic guitar and earthy/soulful vocals, laced with live loops and violin solos. Drew meshes together core influences including classics like Fleetwood Mac and BB King to Talking Heads and Stone Temple Pilots -- with contemporaries like Mumford and Sons and Hozier to Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. The resulting sound is often considered a mix of Ben Harper and Jimi Hendrix, his vocals reminiscent of Eddie Vedder and Darius Rucker.
Drew's performed at an impressive list of venues, including Bostons the Middle East and Sanders Theater, and NYCs the Bitter End, Ace of Clubs, and CBGB, and is a 12 Grapes favorite.

Tompkins Corners Cultural Center (TCCC) announces its first Saturday night event of the 2018 season, presenting Evie Ladin and Keith Terry, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7:30pm.
Innovative musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-trad soul, Oakland, California based Evie Ladin & Keith Terry throw down original folk songs and deep interpretations of old songs, with the kinetic thrill of percussive dance. It’s Appalachian string band music pared to the absolute minimum of accompaniment, but packed with an orchestra’s worth of rhythm. A prolific singer-songwriter, dancer, and square dance caller, the polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin’s clawhammer banjo has been heard in many popular venues, including A Prairie Home Companion, Celtic Connections, Lincoln Center, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.
As Evie wrote to us last fall,

 Glen will be joined by his talented friends, Judy Kass and Amy Soucy. The trio combines their voices to lift up causes of social justice, unity, and the connectedness of all things. California born Glen Roethel is one-of-a-kind artist, gifted vocalist, dazzlingly musical acoustic guitarist. New York based Judy Kass, quickly draws in her audience with soulful vocals, no-nonsense lyrical storytelling and genre-bending exploration of guitar and piano. Amy Soucy is a Beacon, NY-based contemporary folk chanteuse who writes evocative songs exploring the kaleidoscope of human experience (dreams, longing, forgiveness and healing) and sings them in a voice that’s been called “powerful,” “comforting,” and “angelic.”

 Pianist, Vocalist and Songwriter, Mala Waldron, has shared the stage with Makanda Ken McIntyre, Don Braden, Jeanne Lee, Melvin Sparks, Hilton Ruiz, Bernard Purdie, Warren Smith, and others. She is a featured artist on the CDs: He's My Father (a duo with her father, jazz pianist/composer Mal Waldron) and Lullabye (a tribute to her godmother, Billie Holiday). Her recording, Always There, features guitarist Steve Salerno, bassist Miriam Sullivan, and drummer/percussionist Michael T.A. Thompson. Always There, licensed by Columbia Records in Japan, was voted one of the "Top 20 Jazz CDs of 2006" by JazzUSA.
Mala has performed internationally and in the Catania Jazz Festival (Italy), and the Medgar Evers Jazzy Jazz Festival, Port Jefferson Jazz Festival (opening for Kenny Rankin), the Jazz XOXO Asian Tour, and The 2006 Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival for Jazz at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola (Jazz at Lincoln Center) opening for Patrice Rushen.

WEST POINT BAND JAZZ ENSEMBLE PRESENTS “DIASPORA” WITH FEATURED GUEST ETIENNE CHARLES
West Point, NY – The West Point Band Jazz Ensemble will present a performance on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Eisenhower Hall Ballroom at West Point. Entitled “DIASPORA," this performance will explore the experiences of African Americans in the New World and will feature special guest, jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles. Join the Army’s oldest band for this unique and world-class performance celebrating African American music. This concert is free and open to all.
