Punk Returns to Ossining!
with Christina Picciano and All My Friends
Rock (modern). Punk
OAC Steamer Firehouse Gallery
117 Main St.
Ossining, NY   See Map
All My Friends is a punk band from Ossining that combines elements of throwback CBGB’s NYC punk (think Ramones, Blondie) with a touch of ‘90s alterna rock ( think Breeders, Nirvana). Ossining native Christina Picciano formed All My Friends after moving back home, left behind from the wave of musicians who fled to Brooklyn. Feeling isolated and lonely, Christina began to write the songs on “In Ossining.” She recorded all of the instrumentation herself, enlisting a couple of hometown friends to pitch in on mixing and album art. Their first record, “In Ossining,” is an ode to reconnecting with one’s hometown and the struggles that come with it. Christina is currently backed by her childhood friends from Ossining, Matt Labozza on bass and Sam Sherman on drums.

"...One of New York’s most distinctive, exhilarating bands. Their inspirations are classic Chicago blues and southern soul, but they also have a psychedelic side... Intense frontwoman Lizzie Edwards might not only be the best blue-eyed soul singer in New York: she might be the best blue-eyed soul singer anywhere." - New York Music Daily

Belting out original, soulful blues/rock tunes evoking The Black Crowes, Bonnie Raitt and a hint of Led Zeppelin, Lizzie Edwards brings nothing but fierce talent to the stage.

The band also features Greg McMullen, Brett Bass, Bryan Bisordi and James Winwood. They've all toured with music legends, and are staples on the NYC music scene. Also performing backup vocals is Sarah Wise.

Facebook Event: www.facebook.com/events/153143175225040

June 3rd,8 pm,$15.00

The Phantoms are a 5-piece group - Joe Veillette, Charlie Staxx, Brian Becker, Dorraine Scofield & Mike McDonough, based in Woodstock, New York.

Acappella resists modern recording techniques. Click tracks, isolation booths, one-at-a-time overdubs all seem to dilute this style born of vocal groups imitating big band sounds with nothing but voices. Acappella thrives on the stoop, the subway station, and the tiled hallways of New York and Philadelphia. The Phantoms bring their twenty years of experience, their Brooklyn hearts, and the keen ears of Joe Veillette and family to a style whose origins go back half a century. So kick back and discover Woodstock's best kept secret.

***Join us before the show , from 5-8 pm, for ASK's First Saturday Opening Reception. Two new exhibitions. Refreshments will served.*** *Facebook Event - www.facebook.com/events/1897034077176865 *

Rembering Stan Rogers with Paul Mills

Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Stan Rogers was a Canadian singer and songwriter who is well-known for his narrative style of song writing chronicling Canada's history and people. He died tragically at the young age of 33 in a fire aboard an Air Canada flight while returning from a performance at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. Paul Mills is the Canadian record producer who produced all but one of Rogers' albums. He met Stan in 1970 in London, Ontario and they became close friends. Stan's first album, Fogarty's Cove was financed by Mitch Podolak, the founder of the Winnipeg Folk Festival and it was produced by Mills in 1975. Paul and Stan collaborated on 4 more albums before Stan's tragic death in 1983. After Stan died, Paul worked with his widow, Ariel Rogers to keep Stan's music alive. Four more albums were released including a concert recording, a collection of previously unreleased material and a "Best of" collection. In 2012, Paul remastered the 5 albums Stan had recorded during his life.
