1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Hudson Valley singer/songwriter Willa McCarthy-Vincitore has been an active performer in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade, most notably as a member of The Chris O'Leary Band.

She met acclaimed and award-winning singer/harp player Chris O’Leary a few years before he became the lead singer for Levon Helm's Barn Burners. When O’Leary launched his own band in 2008 and invited her to join, she jumped at the chance. Of McCarthy, O'Leary has said, "she's my favorite person in the world to sing with."

McCarthy’s vocals are powerful and soulful and her band plays a mix of blues, funk, R&B and rock—including original and cover material.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
Peekskill native, NYFA (New York Foundation For The Arts) grant recipient Fred Gillen Jr has released nine full-length albums, to great critical acclaim, and has toured all over the U.S. and Europe. His songs have been featured on ABC's "All My Children," NPR's "Car Talk," CMJ's New Music Marathon Sampler, and in 2012 his version of Woody Guthrie's "I Ain't Got No Home" was featured on "Pete Remembers Woody," a collection of Pete Seeger's spoken stories about Woody Guthrie. Like Guthrie, his songs often reflect the struggles of the marginalized and forgotten, shining a light on both the despair and hope in the human condition. His live performances are spontaneous celebrations of all that it is to be human, he encourages participation, and he works hard to eliminate the "fourth wall" between performer and audience.

Admission $10.

"The most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz...." - Vanity Fair

"When it comes to the art of solo piano in jazz, there are two classes of performers: Fred Hersch and everybody else." - All About Jazz

Of the CD "The Fred Hersch Trio: Sunday Night At The Vanguard" recorded on Sunday March 27, 2016, Hersch writes, "We captured lightening in a bottle in a way that is almost impossible to get in a studio." At age 60, Hersch continues to grow as a pianist in richness and depth, and the trio's interaction is more refined than ever.

A select member of the jazz piano pantheon, Fred Hersch is a pervasive force, shaping the course of music for more than three decades as an improviser, composer, educator, bandleader, collaborator and recording artist. An eight-time Grammy Award nominee, he continues to earn jazz´s most prestigious awards.

Paula Ryan is an award-winning singer songwriter, hailing from Tipperary, Ireland. Paula performs regularly not only in Ireland but also in UK, USA, France & Germany. Paula's songs have received recognition in many prestigious song writing competitions & had considerable radio/tv broadcast coverage. According to Rose Rushe, Arts Editor of the Limerick Post, Paula's songwriting comes from the "Joni Mitchell/ Joan Baez school of writing" with "an impressive series of instruments" (Marimba, Guitar, Bazouki, Bodhran) used to compliment Paula's "clear & sweet" vocal tones which also lend easily to gutsy up-tempo numbers. With the "quality of the writing & performance on offer" from Paula, Irish Music magazine reckons that "there is nothing that will stop her" (her new album "Let Me Fly" suggests) flying high artistically or "her music flying off the virtual shelves". "Paula is such "a strong talent in writing and performing..."and (her) live performances are well "worth seeking out".

Jacqui Naylor Quartet
Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
"Naylor remains one of the most superbly arresting vocalists around." - JazzTimes

"Naylor excels as a sensitive song interpreter with unerring intonation." - DownBeat

"Jacqui has a sumptuous voice, knack for scratchiness, and an ability to sweeten those bluesy bent notes." - Village Voice

This velvet-toned vocalist and songwriter is equally at ease singing music by Cole Porter and David Byrne as she is her own original music. Far from a straight-laced jazz purist, Naylor has made the mixing (and sometimes "smashing") of genres and eras her stock-in-trade, gaining fans and notoriety for singing the lyrics and melody of jazz standards over the grooves of well-known pop and rock songs and vice versa. "Naylor has brought new twists to the notion of melding jazz and pop tunes - without high-tech assistance," claims NPR.

The Morris Family Bio. Lexington, NC. A father gives his son a guitar bought at the local jewelry store. 1964. Odessa, TX. Where you find that the youngest child in a family of five signs up to play violin in her junior high orchestra. Seemingly unrelated, but these are the auspicious beginnings for what would become a five-piece Celtic music family affair called the Morris Family Band. Driven by a collective desire for harmony, Aaron and Debbie Morris and their children, Joshua, Jacob and Jessica, have been playing music together for over a quarter of a century. Each has a different approach. Aaron and his guitar are steeped in blues and classic North Carolina finger picking. He cut his teeth writing songs and playing the likes of James Taylor, John Denver. Austin is where he met Debbie. Together they raised a family: three kids, all Suzuki trained musicians. Celtic music was not a conscious choice
