Celebrating the Swing Band's 100th Performance!
with Greg Westhoff's Westchester Swing Band
Swing/Jump, Big Band
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Once per month for 8 years, Greg's Swing Band has entertained audiences at 12 Grapes with their Big Band sound. This is by far the longest running event of it’s kind.

Swing to the music of the Big Band era -- from Benny Goodman, Lional Hampton and Tommy Dorsey -- as well as Sinatra and Broadway hits from the '40s and '50s.

The band features Joe Carpentieri on vocals, five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, a double bass, piano, guitar and drummer and bandleader Greg Westhoff. Members of the Swing Band are all professional musicians who've performed in Broadway pits and with numerous industry greats. Bandleader Greg Westhoff is the orchestra drummer for the hit show, "Family Guy". Greg also performed with Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band on the popular disco-era hit, "A Fifth of Beethoven".

100 performances, once a month on a Sunday, all at one venue. Now that's BIG!

$5 Cover or higher donation goes directly to the band.

Brian Kalinec and KJ
Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Folk/Traditional
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Texan Brian Kalinec and Pennsylvanian Kj Reimensnyder-Wagner met by chance during one of Brian's shows in East Texas in 2013 when Kj happened to be in nearby Shreveport, Louisiana where she was conducting a seminar in educational songwriting. Later that year, when she came down to Texas on a trip, they had a chance to play a few songs together. Their impressive combined sound--songs, voices, and musicianship--convinced them that they should perform shows as a duo and began to do so the following year. They are touring in the Northeast, in Colorado, and in Texas this year.

Brian's writing has drawn favorable comparisons to that of Woody Guthrie, John Steinbeck, Rodney Crowell, and Jim Croce.

Kj is a full-time touring Singer-Songwriter. She has performed across the US and the UK as a solo artist and along with other artists including Steve Weisberg, Ted Vigil, and Dougie MacLean at noted venues and festivals.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
Peekskill native, NYFA (New York Foundation For The Arts) grant recipient Fred Gillen Jr has released nine full-length albums, to great critical acclaim, and has toured all over the U.S. and Europe. His songs have been featured on ABC's "All My Children," NPR's "Car Talk," CMJ's New Music Marathon Sampler, and in 2012 his version of Woody Guthrie's "I Ain't Got No Home" was featured on "Pete Remembers Woody," a collection of Pete Seeger's spoken stories about Woody Guthrie. Like Guthrie, his songs often reflect the struggles of the marginalized and forgotten, shining a light on both the despair and hope in the human condition. His live performances are spontaneous celebrations of all that it is to be human, he encourages participation, and he works hard to eliminate the "fourth wall" between performer and audience.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is a contemporary swing revival band from southern California. Their notable singles include "Go Daddy-O", "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)", and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit". The band played the Super Bowl XXXIII half-time show in 1999. The band was originally formed in Ventura, California, in 1989 by leader Scotty Morris. The band was named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy after Scotty Morris met blues guitar legend Albert Collins at one of the latter's concerts. "He signed my poster 'To Scotty, the big bad voodoo daddy'," Morris explains. "I thought it was the coolest name I ever heard on one of the coolest musical nights I ever had. So when it came time to name this band, I didn't really have a choice. I felt like it was handed down to me." He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later. The band has concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and loung

Brainchild of world renown drummer-percussionist Leon Parker, The Humanity Quartet is a uniquely cooperative jazz ensemble whose members have been associated with the likes of Gerry Mulligan, Benny Carter, Quincy Jones, Johnny Griffin, Dewey Redman, Lee Konitz, Betty Carter, Brad Mehldau, and Cecile McLorin Salvant, among others.

Combining standard and original repertoire and deeply rooted in tradition, there is a true sense of freedom, an indelible emphasis on swing, and always a melody to grab onto.

Joel Frahm, perhaps the greatest sax player of his generation, adds his undeniable sound to the group.

Parker's long time association with bassist-composer Sean Smith spans three decades. Their unique relationship serves as the foundation of the group, while Sean's compositions underscore the band.

Pianist Fred Nardin, who lives in Paris, completes the quartet.

Special guest: Croton's own Lisa Morsberger on flute.

The Morse Rocks Music and Arts Festival began in 2012 to fill a void in the arts' community. Artists need a venue to share their talents. Whether performance or visual, art is to be shared with an audience. Artists need to be motivated and inspired by other artists. Art is not a competition, it is an outward expression of one's soul.

Morse Rocks provides the venue for aspiring artist to 'rub shoulders" with individuals who have made a career with their talents.

Morse Rocks is a festival which blends the best in the world with the best of the Catskill Mountains.

Morse Rocks is produced by Just Print It, an elementary school newspaper which has been dreaming big and accomplishing bigger for students and the general Saugerties, NY community.
