They’ll share the bill with guitarist Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, and his sidekick, multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Wendy Ramsay. Based in upstate New York, the two musicians collaborated on Rodgers’ latest album, Almost There, which won the 2015 Sammy Award for Best Americana, and were selected to perform in the Emerging Artist Showcase at this year’s Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.

Following their successful 2014 U.S. tour, UHADI comes to the Fisher Center for the final performance of their 2015 nationwide tour in a salute to Africa.
UHADI is led by saxophonist McCoy Mrubata and features trumpeter Feya Faku, pianist Paul Hanmer, bassist Herbie Tsoaeli, and drummer Justin Badenhorst. In what promises to be a celebratory and joyful evening, UHADI will be joined by a host of special guests, including master Afro-Latin trombonist Chris Washburne, rising star South African vocalist Vuyo Sotashe, Zimbabwean mbira virtuoso Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa, blues guitarist Gary Wittner, saxophonist TK Blue, and vocal sensation Jazzmeia Horn.

 Dr. Capers has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Slide Hampton, Max Roach, and Paquito D'Rivera, among others; has recorded 5 albums: Portrait of Soul (Atlantic), Affirmation (KMA Arts), Come On Home (Columbia/Sony), Wagner Takes the 'A' Train (Elysium), and Limited Edition (VALCAP Records); and has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. She plays regularly at the Knickerbocker in Greenwich Village and Lenox Lounge in Harlem.
Her most noted compositions are Sing About Love, a critically acclaimed Christmas cantata produced by George Wein at Carnegie Hall; Sojourner, an operatorio based on the life of Sojourner Truth, performed by the Opera Ebony Company of NY; and Song of the Seasons, commissioned by the Smithsonian.

 12 Grapes' once-monthly Kids Open Mic is a showcase for talented musicians and singers ages 6 - 17. It's one of the longest running Open Mics for young people in Westchester.
Sing solo or with a band. Bring your guitar, bass, sax, flute or whatever instrument you play. We provide a drum kit, keyboard, amps and microphones. iPod backing music accommodated. (Internet connection not available, so have your song pre-set.)
Our Kids Open Mic has become a popular favorite, and is always full of surprises and incredible talent. Come to perform or just come to listen!
Sign-up begins at 5:30. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

| Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers is a grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a contributor to NPR’s All Things Considered, and founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine.
His most recent album, Almost There, won the Sammy Award for Best Americana. Rodgers was a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist in 2015, and featured on the public radio program Folk Alley.
He is also the author of a best-selling video series teaching his acoustic arrangements of Grateful Dead songs. The expanded second edition of his book The Complete Singer-Songwriter will be published by Backbeat Books in April 2016.
