Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Jason Furman (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles.
The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts. The group will be playing original tunes, jazz standards, lost classics and rare gems. | ||

Steve is an award winning Americana artist with strong roots in the singer songwriter tradition, country and rock. His influences include The Beatles, Townes Van Zandt, Pete Seeger, and Steve Earle, among others. He's a regular on the Hudson Valley scene with a steadily growing fan base nationwide. In 2011, Steve won the Hudson Valley SongFest Emerging Artist Competition, Wildflower! Music and Art Festival songwriting competition, Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest (Third Place) and was a Kerrville New Folk finalist. In 2010, Steve was the grand prize winner of the Music 2Life songwriting competition for "The Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bail Out Blues". Steve's first C.D. "It Is What It Is" reached number 12 on the folk D.J. Charts in 2007. He's currently working on his latest C.D. with producer Peter Calo set for a January national release. Born in the south to Yankee parents, he has been steeped in everything from Robert Johnson and Townes Van Zandt to Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Hendrix. From this comes a unique musical interpretation that lies somewhere within the delta of Rock, Rockabilly, and the Blues. Dylan was recently a featured artist in the Live Music Camp of this year's "Burning Man Event" as well as the 2014 King Biscuit Blues Festival, one of the biggest blues festivals in the country. Helen Avakian is an award winning singer/songwriter/acoustic guitarist located in Madison,
Wisconsin, formerly of the Hudson Valley in New York, where she was a beloved performer, recording artist, and teacher for many years.In September 2014 Helen won the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. She is the first female to do so since the championship became international in 2004. Helen was voted number one Favorite Acoustic Act four times by Rhythm and News magazine and has won numerous songwriting awards, including seven first prizes from the NewSongs Contest at the Walnut Valley Festival in Kansas. Helen’s latest CD, “Notes from Helen,” is a collection of solo guitar original instrumentals and arrangements of some Helen’s long time favorite songs by artists that include Jay Ungar, Ralph Towner, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, and George Gershwin. | A native of Brooklyn NY Sal has been living in Middletown since 1995. A musician and actor in local venues since for over 40 years he retired from Verizon in 2010 where he worked as a field technician.In 1981 as a member of Sonseed, a local Gospel band, he wrote the ska influenced "Jesus Is A Friend Of Mine". In 2009 a 1982 TV appearance of Sonseed performing the song appeared on YouTube, getting (so far) 9 million hits and inspiring countless karaoke copies and variations. In November 2014 Sal was invited to perform the song at a Ska/Raggae Festival in England. The song has also been recorded by several Christian bands, recorded in German and was featured on several TV shows including GLEE. He still plays guitar and bass and sings in several local rock bands and appears in local stage productions. His wife Donna is a local actress and director and his children, Joseph and Christina, both want to be actors. Go figure... | ||

Peekskill's own Steve Chizmadia joins us the 3rd Wednesday each month. Steve's original, "Song for Pete" was was a winner of the South Florida Folk Festival songwriting competition, which he wrote for his idol, Pete Seeger. Steve is also a 3-time Kerrville New Folk Finalist and has won many other notable awards including Noel Paul Stookey's "Music To Life" (Grand Prize) and Woody Guthrie Festival (3rd place).
