1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Ullmann has performed extensively in and around New York City, from hallowed venues to current hotspots, and at numerous festivals.

Ullmann’s third album, the new Corduroy (Little Sky Records), resonates with the psychogeography of his youth. He explains the title, Corduroy: “Like a smell or a sound, the feel of something can stir up memories,” he says. “Corduroy was big in the 70s, and just touching it, the texture can take me back.” Explaining the allure of that 70s feeling, Ullmann adds: “The themes from the TV shows evoked more emotions in me than the shows themselves. I just loved the sound of ‘Angela’ from Taxi and ‘Suicide Is Painless’ from M.A.S.H. I also thought it was cool that the studio musicians who played these TV themes included jazz players – Bob James wrote the Taxi song and recorded it with guys like Eric Gale, Randy Brecker and Ron Carter. And Paul Desmond and Bill Evans covered the M.A.S.H. song.”

with Seth Davis Band
Singer-Songwriter
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Singer/songwriter Seth Davis' "story-songs" are laced with wounds, reconciliation, addiction and irony. Seth has crafted three critically acclaimed records.

"There's a flavor in the voice. And it's the first thing you think of when Seth Davis begins to sing. As Davis's third and latest disc, MORNING SONGS, unfurls, you being to think even more of Jules Shear. How could that be a bad thing? It's not just the voice. It's the casual precision, the arc of melody, the weight of lyric. There is a shared economy, and it's a delightful place to start." - Chronogram

"Seth Davis establishes himself as a poet of notable talent." - Creations Magazine

"Rarely does a musician arrive on the scene with the songwriting craftsmanship displayed by Seth Davis." - Aural Fix

Banda Magda!, Magda GiannikouThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Banda Magda moves from baiao to jazz manouche, from Greek dance rhythms to samba beats. Their songs, sung in French (with forays into six other languages), hearken back to the golden age of Brazilian bossa, the best of cinematic arranging, and the lush chic of vintage French pop, all while drawing on the band’s global background. Trained in film scoring at Berklee, Giannikou’s film music finesse has won her awards and caught the attention of everyone from Kronos Quartet to Louis CK (she sang a duet with CK for the comedian’s TV show).

Live, Banda Magda bursts with humor and quirky sensibility, powered by a unflagging energy. The New York-based group unites an Esquivel-loving vibes player from Japan; an Argentinean jazz guitarist, a Nagasaki-born percussionist with contemporary classical cred; a hand drummer with every South American rhythm at his fingertips; and a rock-solid Greek multi-instrumentalist/bassist, all led by the sweet-voiced Giannikou.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
New York Uproar brings together some of Westchester's finest musicians to keep alive the high energy, horn driven, rock, soul and blues of the 60's and 70's.

Their passion and energy for this music is immediately evident whether it's a Motown hit, Stax classic or any of the horn driven hits by the classic "Horn" bands like Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears or Tower of Power.

The Band members collective experiences bridge the gamut from Broadway to recording sessions and from cruise ships to regional and national touring bands.

The true highlight of New York Uproar is their horn section. These guys are the "Real Deal" with years of Broadway, Big Band and club date experience. They deliver the powerful sound that only a pro horn section can. Whether it is the unmistakable horn line from songs such as Chicago's "Beginnings" or the Sam and Dave classic "Soul Man" these guys nail it every time!

Marlboro, NY   See Map
“Willy plays rhythms that make me want to crawl inside his guitar and sleep there forever.” — Tori Amos

“Willy Porter is perhaps best known as a down tuned six string wonder, but as a singer and a writer, and as a showman, he merits equal regard.” — Puremusic.com

“Thank goodness he doesn’t play the flute.” — Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull

Porter's songwriting is both lyrically rich and musically adventurous, and he is an accomplished finger-style guitarist, whose music moves easily from guitar-driven rock to the open-tuned wonderland of the new acoustic frontier. Live shows combine his guitar playing, songwriting and on-stage improvisational skills as a storyteller.

Willy’s latest CD, entitled Cheeseburgers & Gasoline, covers a lot of ground lyrically and musically. Willy captured this latest batch of songs as live animals - largely as they would be heard at a live show.

"Winard Harper is one of his generation's greatest standards bearers." Downbeat Magazine

Winard Harper has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz. At 20, he was playing the drums first with Dexter Gordon, and then Johnny Griffin, and honed his chops for the next four years under the tutelage of the late, great Betty Carter.

With his brother Philip Harper on trumpet, Winard led The Harper Brothers, one of the hottest groups of the post-bop era and produced the chart topping Remembrance: Live at the Village Vanguard.

Winard has released four CD's to his credit: Be Yourself (1994), Trap Dancer (1998), Winard (1999), and Faith with Carrie Smith (2000). He is one of the most sough-after sidemen on the jazz circuit; has been exploring African rhythms that influence his work, and is noted for his abilities on the cymbals, which under his hand become an outstanding solo instrument all their own.

The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Bryan Copeland formed Bryan and the Aardvarks in order to explore an inventive new sound that derived from his jazz training as well as his upbringing in pop and country music. The music he writes for the quartet combines a hushed intimacy with memorable, singable melodies and a narrative directness that nevertheless leaves space for expressive improvisation.

In vocalist Camila Meza, pianist Fabian Almazan, vibraphonist Chris Dingman, guitarist Jesse Lewis, and drummer Joe Nero, he has assembled a distinctive ensemble able to flesh out his unique compositions.

Copeland hit on the sound organically, while coping with the death of a close friend. He sat down at the piano one day and the shimmering melody of “Sunshine Through the Clouds” flowed out of him. Copeland recalls, “...I wasn’t really thinking about what I was playing. Something deep in my subconscious just came out, and that’s still the approach I take..."

Several of the songs are based on stories her grandparents shared with her while she was growing up.
