Founded in 1995, the Artists' Soapbox Derby has the dual purpose of encouraging community participation in the arts and generating commercial activity. It provides both imaginative stimulus and exposure for the arts community and offers the public a casual, but spirited introduction to art outside the staid venues of gallery and museum. Derby participants design a non-motorized kinetic sculpture capable of "rolling" down lower Broadway in Kingston, NY's Rondout Historic District. Community artists conduct Art Car design workshops for local youth, an annual poster features a regional artist, and thousands of dollars in prizes are given away. Celebrating 19 years in 2014, t he Artist Soap Box Derby has garnered national and region-wide attention in the New York Times, Business Week, other major publications, broadcast media and online, drawing more than 8,000 visitors to Kingston for a Derby weekend.

John Tracy’s music is for real people living real life. It is born of a desire to be transparent and share his experiences in life through his lyrics. Spending hours since the age of sixteen perfecting his skill on the acoustic guitar, studying songwriting from some of the industry’s best and pouring his expertise as a lyricist into each word, he has crafted songs that have a resounding impact.

Says Jeff Curtis, Executive Director of The Orange Downtown Alliance: “John’s genius of delivering lyrical melodies of all things that we experience as humans may only be surpassed by his mastery of the guitar. He will tell you that he loves writing songs but his music tells you that he loves the human connection.”

Our Ladies Man is back --- it's the triumphant return of a 12 Grapes favorite, the talented and handsome Drew Bordeaux.

Whether playing solo with an acoustic guitar or screaming Hendrix-style riffs on a violin, Drew Bordeaux never fails to captivate and entertain any audience. His original tunes weave classic rock and blues with today's pop and alternative styles to create music that is rich, moving, and relentlessly catchy.

Drew will entertain us once again tonight with his eclectic (and electric) mix of Rock and alt-Pop/Rock covers, weaving in a few of his "relentlessly catchy" originals. Drew performs songs from The Police, The Lumineers ("Ho, Hey"), Marc Cohen ("Walking in Memphis"), Coldplay, Kings of Leon ("Use Somebody") and more. Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
For anyone who loves joyful, unpretentious, but highly creative and spontaneous jazz, Todd Londagin’s new album Look Out For Love will be a delightful discovery. In the company of four longstanding musical cohorts, Todd has assembled a repertoire of 10 songs, culled from the Great American Songbook and popular songs. Bassist Jennifer Vincent and drummer David Berger have been playing with Todd since the early 1990s (all three were original members of the successful ‘90s band, The Flying Neutrinos); while pianist Matt Ray and guitarist Pete Smith have been performing with Todd since 2000. Together, they artfully and lovingly developed each piece like an assortment of delicious dishes combined together for a cohesive feast. As Todd explains, "each tune is an exercise in doing things in a different way." Unabashed swing is definitely a consistent mood throughout the CD.

This is one very cool joint, a bit of Brooklyn in the middle of all these trees. (there are a lot of trees up here)

So, come have a drink, some incredible, and I mean, incredible food, and I'll play my little heart out to soothe yer soul with some tunes that are familiar, yet, not. Come on down and I'll explain it to you...bring your mother too.

12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
There a few artists who can make you feel like magic truly exists. Jaquon "Qu Boii" Welch is such an artist. With an original style and authentic talent - coupled with a winning smile and tenacious personality - Jaquon takes his audience back to a time when music was as much about the message as the delivery. His tenor voice smoothly transitions from old-time Gospel to modern Urban Soul and R&B, drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, John Legend and others.

Jaquon began singing and performing at the age of two, before he could even make complete sentences! A Peekskill native, he's been performing up the east coast, in local theatre groups and his Baptist Church. "My inspiration comes from having faith in God, and in the gift God has given me."

Join us as we welcome this amazingly talented young singer to our 12 Grapes stage. You will dance. And you will smile.

Old Dutch Church
Wall Street
Kingston, NY   See Map
Jobe/Redfearn Ensemble performs work by two award-winning composers: Steven L. Jobe and Alec K. Redfearn. Besides a giant hurdy gurdy, the effect of which Jobe describes as “a primal hypnotic wave”, Jobe/Redfearn features intriguing and colorful instrumentation -- accordion, violin, viola, cello and percussion. In addition, two guest vocalists, Ellen Santinello, with a background that includes opera, early and art music, and Gillian Chadwick, whose vocals range from rock to folk styles, will round out the absorbing, eclectic, impossible-to- categorize sound. Selections range from a dreamy art-song melody by Jobe entitled "Chartres," to a characteristically accordion-infused extravaganza by Redfearn, "Amoebiasis". Completing the ensemble are noted New England instrumentalists Rob Bethel, cello; Matt McClaren, percussion; Laura Gulley, violin, and gurdy crew, Chris Sadlers and Rachel Rosenkrantz. Their experiences range from classical and experimental music to rock bands

Cole Porteresque lyrics meet Steely Dan-style music in the hands of "swingin' brainiac" Ari Shagal, the composer, orchestrator, lyricist, and bandleader of The Summarily Dismissed. Shagal, the self-described "secret daughter of Todd Rundgren & Laura Nyro," leads a tight band that includes veteran jazz bassist Kevin Harris, lightning-fingered guitarist Adam Lomeo, and two vocalists: the raw, bluesy, soulful Matt Lomeo, and the smooth, dulcet-toned Ferima Faye. As a composer, Shagal proudly describes herself as a member of the Fancy Chord Club; her lyrics feature witty insight and laugh-out-loud humor in equal measure, while still allowing her bandmates plenty of opportunity to showcase their chops. The Summarily Dismissed will perform songs from their 2013 album To Each!, in addition to new material and a cover or two from the canon of jazz and classic soul.
