Blues, Jazz, and Rock (classic). Soul-Jazz
the Falcon
1348 Rte 9w
Marlboro, NY   See Map
"Back in the studio for his sophomore release, Jeremy Baum knocks it out of the park with 10 Hammond organ and piano driven arrangements. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians, this album is a great listen from start to finish. Special guests include Jay Collins, Juma Sultan, Eric Kalb, Michael Bram, Chris Reddan, Scott Sharrard, Chris Vitarello, Myles Mancusso, Eddie Torres, Tony Tino, Anthony Candullo, and Dennis Gruenling. Check this one out!" - Dave Gross

Both traditional and trailblazing...Highly recommended. ***Blues Review Magazine***

Baum's playing has a deep funk to it, with a big influence of Jimmy Smith. And Baum also brings in all kinds of other things as well - dissonant jazz, alternative rock, R&B. He's not too far off from what John Medeski does with Medeski, Martin and Wood, but with more of a blues streak to it. ***Jim Trageser. Escondido, Calif. ***

"Back in the studio for his sophomore release, Jeremy Baum knocks it out of the park with 10 Hammond organ and piano driven arrangements. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians, this album is a great listen from start to finish. Check this one out!" - Dave Gross

Jeremy Baum plays the Hammond Organ and leads his own trio, which is rooted in the blues and funky soul-jazz sounds of the late 60s (think Booker T and the Mg's, the Meters, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff!). Jeremy's debut Lost River Jams is available on Flying Yak Records.

JB's band was also featured on Boogaloo to McDuff, a tribute to Jack McDuff - available on Scufflin' Records. His second full length album The Eel is now available on Flying Yak Records!

Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman met in March of 1971 at an open mic in Boston, and exactly one year later, Aztec Two-Step burst on the scene with their 1972 self-titled debut on Elektra Records.

Their first album and subsequent albums for RCA Records were staples of progressive FM and college radio and helped to bring the music of the 1960s into the '70s and beyond.

Their most recent recording project, the 2012 studio CD "Cause & Effect" was released to commemorate their 40th Anniversary, and is a 16-song collection with social/ topical themes produced by Paul Guzzone and featuring long-time bassist Fred Holman. The album is a combination of re-worked and newly mined material.

After four decades, Aztec Two-Step is more than ever defined by intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic lead guitar and inspiring harmonies, and continues to be one of acoustic music's most respected and enduring acts.

Which musician did Aretha Franklin definitely NOT want missing from the line-up when she recorded her most inspired albums at the beginning of the seventies.

Who provided the back-beat for Steely Dan's "Aja", and for whom have Isaac Hayes, Donny Hathaway, B.B. King, "Sweet" Lou Donaldson, Joe Cocker and Hank Crawford reserved that stool behind the drum kit?

The list is incomplete; it must be, because no other drummer in the last three decades has seen the interior of a recording studio as often as Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. The 57 year-old native of Elkton, Maryland has laid down the beat on over 3000 albums to date.

The legendary drummer's style is described as the "funkiest soul beat" in the business. Purdie has never limited his talents, but has consistently sought out new musical experiences, anchoring sessions with the Rolling Stones, James Brown and Tom Jones with equal ease.

"DRIVE" and "GROOVE" are definitely not missing from his vocabulary.

Sasha Papernik is a first generation Russian-American classical pianist, singer, and songwriter who draws on her dual heritage and wide range of talents to present concerts spanning the genre and continental divide.

Lauded for her "lightly transparent performances of Chopin and Scriabin,” The Washington Post (July 2013) calls her “uncommonly attractive and entertaining...managing a comfortable balance of the formal and the casual.”

Her 2013 self-released bilingual album, Victory, has been hailed by reviewers as "an eye opener," (Wildy's World) and "unparalleled in its aesthetics and musical elegance," (Indiemunity).

Sasha is currently a featured artist in this year's 2013-2014 Lincoln Center Meet The Artist school series and Carnegie Hall's Musical Explorers program. Her bilingual program, “I Speak Music,” has also toured New York City schools for The Center For Arts Education.

Steve Cooper is a Warwick metalsmith who ships beautiful sculptures of metal flowers and jewelry to galleries and garden centers across the US. Last month, Steve and his wife Karen woke up with their home engulfed in flames. They made it out of the house with only the pajamas they wore. Karen, with some minor burns and a respiratory problem, ended up in St.Anthony’s Hospital but was released 7 days later. The second day out of the hospital Karen had a heart attack while driving, sustaining serious injuries to her spine and rib cage. She passed away 5 days later, May 25th.

Steve currently has nothing and is too proud to ask for help. That's where friends and community come in. Help gives Hope. Please join us at this fundraiser and make a difference.

There'll be a silent auction and delicious food. But, mostly there will be the opportunity for YOU to make a difference. Please come.
