with Willa McCarthy Band, Josh Stacy, Scott Milici, Doug Abramson, Jerry Teters
Blues. Funk, R&B, Rock
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Willa McCarthy has been an active performer in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade, most notably as a member of The Chris O'Leary Band.

She met acclaimed and award-winning singer/harp player Chris O’Leary a few years before he became the lead singer for Levon Helm's Barn Burners. When O’Leary launched his own band in 2008 and invited her to join, she jumped at the chance. Of McCarthy, O'Leary has said, "she's my favorite person in the world to sing with."

McCarthy’s vocals are powerful and soulful and her band plays a mix of blues, funk, R&B and rock—including original and cover material—and features Josh Stacy on guitar, Scott Milici on keys, Doug Abramson on bass and Jerry Teters on drums.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Sculptor Sydney Cash mounts a three month ”work-in-progress” exhibition at The Falcon in Marlboro NY, beginning February 2014.

The show will feature Cash’s new dimensional paintings and portraits in space-modulating installations. Some pieces will span the entire width of the club. Some will include the tables, integrating elements of his light sculpture to the surprise and delight of the Falcon audience!

What does this Work-in-Progress mean? It means the show is alive. It will change frequently as Cash respond to the space, the music and the experience on a weekly basis.

Sydney Cash's studios are nearby in Marlboro. With a key to the club, his work-in-progress may happen at any time, day or night. This is a very special opportunity for the artist, whose experimental ideas will be manipulated in continuing improvisation, complimenting the music being performed, and engaging an audience that wants to be thrilled with “all that jazz”.

Americana, Bluegrass
RIVER SPIRIT MUSIC
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
“Fans of Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton, take notice: Nora Jane Struthers embodies everything you could want in an Americana singer-songwriter.” - NPR Music

Virginia-born Struthers was educated at NYU’s Steinhart School of Education and taught at a charter school in Brooklyn, while cutting her musical teeth as a folk-rock performer in New York clubs like CBGBs and the Cutting Room. She decided to move into music full-time after attending such convocations as Virginia’s Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention and North Carolina’s Mount Airy Fiddlers Convention with her father. Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line have performed at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival and Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion.

The instrumentation and form of Struthers’ music draws on her traditionalist roots – her father is himself a bluegrass musician – but with the addition of drums, her latest album takes a bend toward more progressive roots-rock bands like Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers.

Acoustic

12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
When Anne & JT first performed together, there was an immediate chemistry between them. They've been collaborating ever since. Their sound is cool and contemporary; their harmonies extraordinary.

With a repertoire that recreates the fresh, folksy, foot-stomping style of singer/songwriters like Johnnyswim, Marcus Mumford, Newton Faulkner, Civil Wars and Local Natives, Anne & JT have developed a sound that's completely their own. And it's truly something special.

Anne is a frequent performer at our Open Mics, was a featured singer at our 1,000th performance and is active in her Church Choir, where she recently performed a classic hymn by Mendelssohn. JT is a graduate of the prestigious School of Music at Ithaca College (Sound Recording & Technology). He's a songwriter and accomplished musician who performs contemporary Rock, Jazz & Classical guitar.

Two of our favorite artists celebrating our 6th Anniversary! We can't wait!

Paramount Hudson Valley

Peekskill, NY   See Map
The Righteous Brothers’ raw emotional R&B sound not only created the genre “Blue-Eyed Soul”, but the very term was coined specifically for them. Combining the density of Phil Spector’s “Wall of Sound” production with Bill Medley’s deep, rich, powerful baritone created a totally original sound that still resonates today. BMI ranked You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’ as having had more television and radio airplay than any other song in history!

The FALCON

Ed Palermo Big Band presents "ZODD ZUNDGREN"The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The world's zaniest big band honors and mashes the music of Todd Rungren and Frank Zappa.

Downbeat magazine gave “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa” a 4-star review. Palermo’s second CD of Zappa material, entitled “Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance” has been received with equal enthusiasm from publications all over the world, including another rave from Downbeat.

The latest release, 'Oh No! Not Jazz!!' consists of two albums - the first explores Ed's distinctive interpretations of Frank Zappa's work and works from original Mothers Of Invention. Two notable pieces are performed here - One of Frank's best loved works, Inca Roads, with a vocal by guest Napoleon Murphy Brock contrasts with one of his most 'notoriously difficult' works, The Black Page #2. The second album features Ed's own riotous, colorful compositions, featured here for the first time in over 25 years!
