Sculptor Sydney Cash mounts a three month ”work-in-progress” exhibition at The Falcon in Marlboro NY, beginning February 2014.

The show will feature Cash’s new dimensional paintings and portraits in space-modulating installations. Some pieces will span the entire width of the club. Some will include the tables, integrating elements of his light sculpture to the surprise and delight of the Falcon audience!

What does this Work-in-Progress mean? It means the show is alive. It will change frequently as Cash respond to the space, the music and the experience on a weekly basis.

Sydney Cash's studios are nearby in Marlboro. With a key to the club, his work-in-progress may happen at any time, day or night. This is a very special opportunity for the artist, whose experimental ideas will be manipulated in continuing improvisation, complimenting the music being performed, and engaging an audience that wants to be thrilled with “all that jazz”.

The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Warm up a Winter night with dinner & dancing! Country Line Dancing with Featured DJ "JP & The Kickin' Mule"!

The Roadside Attraction is real American roots music - with elements of country, bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz and rock sewn into the fabric of their sound.

Full of energy and emotion, the core of this ensemble is singer/songwriter Bob Stump on guitar, Doug Moody on fiddle and Johnny Resk on percussion. Their three part harmonies and virtuoso musicianship have set them apart. Doug Moody’s fiddle with Bob Stump’s vocals can be likened to Willie Nelson with Mickey Raphael’s harmonica.

Bob has recently inked deals with music publishers in Nashville and L.A. and his song the "Cowboy In Me" has aired on Sirius XM satellite radio.

Based in Upstate NY, the band performs concerts and club dates throughout the Northeast. Bob's second CD "Stumpgrass Live" is in the editing stages and will be available soon.

Larry Campbell, 3 time Grammy winning producer, winner of the Americana Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Multi-Instrumentalist & native of Manhattan, spent many years as an A team studio musician in New York’s roots, rock & country scene, recording & touring with the seminal names of Americana music.

When Teresa crossed the Mason Dixon to NYC, she inevitably intersected musically with Campbell. They spent years working/travelling apart, notably with Teresa’s theatre habit that included the creation of the role of Sara Carter, lead singer of The Original Carter Family, for Keep on the Sunny Side, & with Larry’s eight year stint in Bob Dylan’s band.

Recent years have put the two together touring with the Levon Helm Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, Hot Tuna, & joining Little Feat at their Feat Fan Excursions. Among many recordings, they appear on Hot Tuna’s Steady as She Goes, Jorma Kaukonen’s, River of Time, & Helm’s MerleFest Ramble, & the Grammy Award winning Dirt Farm.

The Purple Crayon
52 Main Street
Hastings on Hudson, NY   See Map
Singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky is in high demand among her fellow folk artists. Her outstanding voice and her gift for writing have lent themselves to many collaborations with her peers, including John Gorka, Dar Williams, Richard Shindell, Shawn Colvin, and more. John Gorka has called her "one of the great singers and one of the greatest harmony singers ever." The praise and recognition she receives from other singer-songwriters is reason enough to acknowledge Kaplansky's great talents, but she continues to wow critics as well. Able to combine beautiful language with robust stories, her songs are "about life itself, in all its awkward, emotional, and difficult glory. There's poetry in there, but not at the cost of the stories themselves."

It's clear that Kaplansky has an innate gift for tellling stories, and a gorgeous voice with which to bring her characters to life. Her performance at The Purple Crayon promises to be an intimate, beautiful experience.

In early 2011 former Dead Or Alive vocalist Dave Falkenmeyer and Guitarist Tom Rhein composed the acoustic duo Twisted Steele. The band became a trio in June 2012 when Jack Sheppard was added to the band after the band wanted to expand their sound. Seeking a change from drumming in classic rock bands for thirty years Jack auditioned and took Twisted Steele to another level with incredible precision and impeccable timing. Dave is no stranger to the music scene as he fronted many bands in his twenty five year career moving crowds with his wide vocal range and crowd interaction makes his performances unforgettable. Tom has toured for many years in his 30 years of experience. He started touring with southern rock bands in Georgia at the age of eighteen and continues to play through today but on a smaller scale. Tom and Dave met in the band Backlash a well known rock cover band from Orange County NY. They rocked the local area for well over five years until their demise in late 2007.

Hudson Valley singer/songwriter Willa McCarthy debuted her new band at The Falcon in early September to a standing-room only crowd and everyone had such a good time, we asked her to come back for a repeat performance. McCarthy has been an active performer in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade, most notably as a member of The Chris O'Leary Band. She met acclaimed and award-winning singer/harp player Chris O’Leary a few years before he became the lead singer for Levon Helm's Barn Burners. When O’Leary launched his own band in 2008 and invited her to join, she jumped at the chance. Of McCarthy, O'Leary has said, "she's my favorite person in the world to sing with."

McCarthy’s vocals are powerful and soulful and her band plays a mix of blues, funk, R&B and rock—including original and cover material—and features Josh Stacy on guitar, Scott Milici on keys, Doug Abramson on bass and Jerry Teters on drums.

Leaving pretense and posturing behind, Durfee performs with an aching honesty, pushing his picking capabilities to the limit and choosing his lyrics carefully. Story songs, breath-taking instrumentals, and truly original works dominate Durfee's playing, with suprising covers and moments of lightness and laughter keeping listeners engaged. Durfee has performed for years as a solo artist, as half of the acoustic duo Palatypus, and as part of the acoustic rock trio the Rattling Baddlies. He has shared stages with many rising stars in the singer-songwriter/ indie rock genre, including Sean Rowe, Amy LaVere, Ryan Montbleu, Diego Garcia, Zach Deputy, Deer Tick, The Felice Brothers and more... In honor of Women's History Month, Marcy B. Freedman will present a spoken-word performance about sexism in advertising. Her presentation is a part of the First Monday Salon, a monthly event hosted by Carla Rae Johnson for artists and art lovers.

Using lots of images and lots of humor, Freedman will survey the history of print advertisements in the United States, exposing the shocking ways in which women have been represented in this medium. Starting with her own childhood aversion to the glorification of blondes in the ads of the nineteen fifties - she was born with very dark hair! -- Freedman will consider the various ways in which the world of advertising has impacted girls, and therefore women, of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her talk will also highlight the careers of those few women who managed to work within the advertising industry.

This event is free and open to the public.
