Chris O'Leary & Band shakes up Marlboro with a Halloween Party!

The Chris O'Leary Band's music is rooted in the blues with shades of New Orleans, rockabilly and big, high-energy sound. Levon Helm can be heard in Chris's early sessions, and sitting in with regular gigs. Soon, Levon asked Chris to join the house band at his new club in New Orleans. Chris’s band relocated and became the focal point of Levon Helm's Barn Burners, backing up touring stars and opening for New Orleans' finest players.

Chris continued to tour with the Barn Burners and in 2007, formed a new band, including fellow Barn Burner Frankie Ingrao on bass, guitarist Chris Vitarello (already known from his tasty, incendiary work with the Bruce Katz Band), and drummer Sean McCarthy.

O'Leary's band was a big hit at The Falcon’s first New Year's Eve Celebration, and continues to impress our music savvy crowd.

A consummate live performer, lyricist, singer and guitarist, Jack Grace is at the helm of a powerhouse band that plays kick the can with any musical genre that it stumbles across. The New York Press raved, "what sets his songs apart from rest of the country or alt-country scene is his laugh-out-loud, absurdist wit." :|: The New York Times says "Hugh Pool's songs hark back to the 1960's rock that was steeped in the blues...extending from rolling-and-tumbling slide-guitar boogies to neo-psychedelic jams to reflective, down-home hymns that recall The Band."

Blues. Rock, Soul
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Calvin Cooke, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell and Aubrey Ghent- are the greatest living musicians to embody the Sacred Steel tradition - joyously encompassing blues, rock and soul. The pedal steel guitar was introduced to church services by Willie Eason in the 1930’s, to mimic African-American singing and shouting.

The Slide Brothers were a featured act of the Experience Hendrix Tour, thrilling sold out shows across North America with their interpretations of Hendrix signatures “Purple Haze” and “Foxy Lady”.

“I want to take this musical history and make it relevant to give people a better idea of who we are and where this tradition came from. ....[The Slide Brothers can] bridge the cultural gap between people who are seventy-five years old and kids who are fifteen years old by reaching back into this history of music.” - Robert Randolph

Hudson Valley singer/songwriter Willa McCarthy debuted her new band at The Falcon in early September to a standing-room only crowd and everyone had such a good time, we asked her to come back for a repeat performance.

McCarthy has been an active performer in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade, most notably as a member of The Chris O'Leary Band. She met acclaimed and award-winning singer/harp player Chris O’Leary a few years before he became the lead singer for Levon Helm's Barn Burners. When O’Leary launched his own band in 2008 and invited her to join, she jumped at the chance. Of McCarthy, O'Leary has said, "she's my favorite person in the world to sing with."

McCarthy’s vocals are powerful and soulful and her band plays a mix of blues, funk, R&B and rock—including original and cover material—and features Josh Stacy on guitar, Scott Milici on keys, Doug Abramson on bass and Jerry Teters on drums.

Danny’s sound is unique and has been described by Albany’s Times Union Newspaper as “sad and and sorrowful” but “there is always a hint of hope lingering.”. At times his finger picking acoustic style is so nuanced that the most raucous crowds become quiet just to listen then are jolted back by some of Danny’s foot tapping rhythms and catchy lyrics. The songs have a familiarity that people connect with instantly and it isn’t unusual to have them humming in your head days after. However, trying to pin him to an artist he sounds like is difficult. Like Danny’s trip to the northeastern United States, his folk driven genre meanders between the influences of his past. In his travels Danny’s style has been compared to that of Mark Erelli, Ryan Adams, or Conor Oberst. While he says he doesn’t mind the comparison the real truth is that this is a unique singer-songwriter with a style all his own. If you haven’t heard Danny Whitecotton yet, you are missing out.

These two talented singers will surprise and delight you.

Jessi Mason likes to cover new music and reinvent old classics to give them a modern twist. Jessi is also a songwriter. "Fly Away" is about the stress of high school and "Where Have You Been?" is a love song about her one true love: her guitar.

Chloe Gordon is a singer/songwriter from Edgemont, New York. She composes mainly on guitar in styles that have been compared to Corinne Bailey Rae and Feist. Also an avid reader, writer, and thinker, Chloe believes that music is the most spiritual and personal way to express what otherwise remains unsaid. She hopes that her music touches people in the way that others’ music has touched her.

Join us for Dinner & Show, or sit by the stage and enjoy the music of these two wonderful acoustic artists.

Free Admission.

She played in several bands in her developing years on both bass and guitar, and was always the featured vocalist.

Lexie has appeared on her father’s album Toolin’ Around Woodstock with Levon Helm on drums, and sings Vaya Con Dios on the upcoming release of the Les Paul Tribute Album alongside of Keith Richards, Jose Feliciano, Steve Miller, Slash and many other greats. Known as "The Master of the Telecaster," music lovers consider Arlen Roth "the guitarist's guitarist," a brilliant musician, but that's only one aspect of his remarkable 35-year career. He is a highly regarded authority concerning "all things guitar," from writing about guitar playing, to being the inspiration behind their creation, due to his fluent mastery, and rare ability to seamlessly cross over musical genres and playing styles.

His legendary guitar prowess crosses all genres, all styles, and all types of guitar playing, including one of his specialties, slide guitar. He fluidly moves from folk and blues to country tunes, and has played some of the most resounding rock ever recorded.

Tonight's band features Eddie Denise on Bass, Shannon Ford on Drums, and Chris Foley on 2nd guitar.

Brooklyn-Based Duo Bring the Noise -- Beacon Monday Jazz Sessions

Beacon, NY   See Map
“The music of The Moon can surge like molten lava or flow like a quiet stream. It’s a purist form of improvisation — noise-attuned but rooted in jazz fundamentals, abstract but built on the unusually sturdy bond between guitarist Adam Caine and drummer Federico Ughi. These two play free, while operating like an old-school working band.”

— Hank Shteamer, Time Out New York

After the remarkable performance by Bern Nix and François Grilliot officially opening the revived Quinn's in Beacon, NY last Monday, the weekly jazz sessions in Beacon now continue at the new venue with The Moon, an experimental duo from Brooklyn, NY, featuring Adam Caine on electric guitar and Federico Ughi on drums. As with all the Monday jazz sessions at Quinn's, admission is free but donations for musicians will be requested and gratefully accepted. Quinn's is located at 330 Main St. in Beacon, NY.
