Cherry Case
Acoustic, Pop/Soft Rock
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
CherryCase hails from Nashville, TN, but will always be from Carolina at heart. Frontman Jake Etheridge started CherryCase as an acoustic project in early 2006. Over the years of songwriting, Jake added a couple more pieces to the puzzle, and by early 2010, CherryCase had released a full-band, full-length record. Since moving to Nashville, Etheridge and CherryCase have only grown to perfect their polished acoustic pop sound. Drawing from influences like Dashboard Confessional, Coldplay and Ryan Adams, CherryCase continues to produce solid songs about the one thing most troubling to every guy in the world…girls. CherryCase is highly anticipating the release of their music video for “War Song”, their new album, and their summer tour all of which come early July. Catch them at your local venue because its bound to be a party with the CherryCase boys.

“Andy Statman, clarinet and mandolin virtuoso, is an American visionary” — The New Yorker

” … One of the most important Jewish creative artists of the postwar era.” — The Jerusalem Post

Bill Monroe and John Coltrane poured into one person. .. He plays all those just great crazy jazz kind of licks, but with the heart and fire of Bill Monroe … I don’t know anyone else that approaches the mandolin the way he does.” —Ricky Skaggs, NPR

Had there been a planetarium in 19th century Galicia, or a kosher deli in Depression-era Kentucky, Andy Statman’s music might have been playing in the background. Meandering through time, geography and culture, the man and his inimitable hybrid sound move freely among the before, the after, and the present. Andy Statman, one of his generation’s premier mandolinists and clarinetists, thinks of his compositions and performances as “spontaneous American-roots music and personal, prayerful hasidic music, by way of avant-garde jazz.”

Acoustic Cafe Music Series
25 Fremont Ave
Park Ridge, NJ   See Map
An all-star cast consisting of Kim & Reggie Harris, Magpie, John Flynn, Pat Wictor, Greg Greenway and George Wurzbach will perform THE SONGS OF PHIL OCHS at the Acoustic Café. The evening will be hosted by Phil's sister, Sonny Ochs, who is still an active figure in the folk community. The performers will also include some of their own songs, and Sonny will add historical and biographical notes to put these songs in the context of the era and the times.

Phil was one of the seminal figures of the 60's Folk movement, perhaps the most incisive topical songwriter of the times, an artist whom Bob Dylan alternately admired and envied. A measure of the greatness of his songs is that most of them are still getting more and more relevant as they approach their 50th anniversaries. Natalie is one of the Hudson Valley's newest up-and-coming artists, and 12 Grapes is pleased to welcome Natalie back to our stage. Natalie is a beautifully talented singer, praised by the Poughkeepsie Journal as, "an act you don’t want to miss." She has opened for artists such as Mose Allison, Frank Vignola [Madonna, Ringo Starr, Wynton Marsalis] and Stephane Wrembel [Woody Allen’s Vicky Christina Barcelona & Midnight in Paris]. Influenced by the music of artists like Sade, Sting, Bebel Gilberto, Emily King, Adele & Jamiroquai, this multi-genre singer's musical and songwriting pursuits embrace Pop, R&B and Latin genres. With every performance Natalie evolves into a more nuanced singer, a young artist just beginning to test the limits of her instrument.

Tonight, Natalie is joined by some of the area's most talented musicians; Erik Perez on drums, Anthony Candullo on bass and special guest, Chris Burke on keys.
