The BEST jazz night in the Hudson Valley is at Jack and Luna's in Stone Ridge! Tonight Jack and Luna’s welcomes back area guitar whiz Mark Dziuba, professor of jazz studies at SUNY New Paltz and mentor to dozens of local players. Dziuba’s talent and infectious humor shine through every time he rips up a stage with his tasty licks. Small wonder many of Dziuba’s past and present students turn out to hear him play. Tonight Mark fronts the band of Jim Donica on bass and café co-owner/promoter Chris Bowman on drums. Bowman, who co-owns the café with his wife Julie, says, “we provide for music fans a local niche room to see world-class jazz up close, in a welcoming and appealing setting, specifically designed to have great acoustics. And, in addition to our regular fare, we offer tasty dinner specials that are served exclusively on live-music nights." Gourmet appetizers and entrees, wine and Keegan Ales, plus coffee and fine desserts are available this evening.

Brian's Backyard BBQ
1665 RTE 211 EAST
Middletown, NY   See Map
Trout's sixth recording for Provogue Records is his first pure blues album in 23 years as a bandleader, which is astounding given his heavy resume in the genre. Trout spent five years in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and was a member of Canned Heat, two of the style's supremely influential bands. He's also supported a slew of classic artists including John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton and Joe Tex. Nonetheless, as a front man the six-string virtuoso developed a conflagrant approach to his instrument and a rep utation for tornado-strength live shows that led famed BBC disc jockey Bob Harris to call him "the world's greatest rock guitarist" in his influential book The Whispering Years and won Trout the sixth spot on BBC Radio One's list of the Top 20 guitarists of all time. Peekskill, NY   See Map
12 Grapes loves nothing more than original artists who use their creativity and talent to express themselves through music. Our "Unplugged Sundays" are dedicated to such musicians.

We came upon this young band, Harmonium, at an Acoustic Open Mic. The sound they produce is mesmerizing. To describe their music as "unique" is an understatement. Harmonium is a World-fusion band that incorporates very different styles of playing into one unique entity. The use of various instruments from around the world allows the band to create sounds that "free your mind and spirit, as well as spring your body into action."

Harmonium is a Yorktown-based band, featuring Mark McIntyre on guitar, Joe Schultz on didgeridoo (an Australian wind pipe) and hang (a cylindrical steel drum), and Mike Cesario on percussion.

The band just finished their first CD. If you love great listening music... creative, original music... tonight's your night.

The 4th Thursday of each month, join saxman and vocalist JP Patrick and his band as they rehearse, work, and play for each other, and for you. "Sessions" gives audience members an up-close-and personal view of what it takes to put together a live performance. You'll enjoy this intimate look at how musicians do what they love to do best: "play".

JP has been on the Blues music scene for years, and is a tremendously talented front-man, vocalist and songwriter. He plays Blues harp and alto sax, and always performs with passion and energy. His audiences feel it... and love it. His original songs are full of wit and charm. Songs like "Simple Request (Stop Breaking My Balls)" and "Shy of Indigo" showcase his talents as a funky Blues musician who's taking his art to the next level.

Every installment of "Sessions" is unique, as JP often invites different musicians to sit in and perform. Nights with JP and his band are always super-fun!

Chris Brown
Singer-Songwriter
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
With his distinct bass tone, Christopher Brown has pleased audiences for more than two decades with his repertoire of musical stories. Chris' special view of the world is portrayed honestly and humorously through his innovative, story-telling lyric, enlivened by a unique blend of folk, country and rock & roll. A reviewer recently wrote, "his sound might best be described as James Taylor meets Johnny Cash."

Chris calls his new album "Characterist". That's because he is not only a singer/songwriter, but an artist/illustrator who can capture a subject's essence through caricature. With a few strokes, he reveals hints of a character's nature or temperament, their mystery or charm. He does the same thing with lyric and melody, outlining and shading characters and moments, even yearnings and states of mind. His deep rumble of a voice can be as direct as an approaching train, yet warm and forgiving.

Chris will be joined by master guitarist and composer Peter Calo.

Good old American Rock & Roll!
with Pat O'Shea & the Honest Men
Rock (classic)
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Pat O'Shea has the kind of musical pedigree many musicians only dream of having. He's worked with some of the biggest stars on the Blues scene including Hubert Sumlin and Joe Louis Walker, plus six years as guitarist for the legendary Levon Helm.

And yet, O'Shea says of The Honest Men, "They're some of the best players I know... the best band I've ever been in." Now that's saying something.

The Honest Men are: Chris Burke on Hammond organ/piano/accordion, Mike Severino on drums/percussion, Evan "Eli" Wagner on acoustic & electric bass, Will Van Sise on guitars/pedal steel/vocals and Pat O'Shea on guitars/ vocals/ mandolin.

While he started on the Blues scene, O'Shea is now a straight-up Rock & Roll man, playing songs with strong musical content and three-part harmonies... music that grabs you and refuses to let you go. And "hopefully some of the most honest song writing you've heard in a long time."
