![]() Sunday 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Richie Kaye Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter | Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe 40 West Market Street Red Hook, NY See Map |
| Richie Kaye is a singer-songwriter-guitarist following a tradition that stretches back to the troubadours. One man, one guitar, one voice. Compared by one critic to the Fado Portoghese, but clearly American in tone, he writes and performs original music based on his awareness -- with all its faults -- of the True and Real in the style of the Here and Now. The music on he plays is youthful in spirit, expressing a tragicomic vitality within a strange and subtle harmoniousness. It is American music for the new century: “educated rock ‘n roll” with a solo 6-string. Indeed, the melodies he has discovered are always singable, creating eerie harmonies floating over unusual chord changes that still seem somehow familiar. The lyrics he hears convey an exquisite poesy intended to reflect a soulful intelligence greater than man. One man, one guitar, one Voice. | ||

Andrew Craig, 2010 Billboard and Unisong International Songwriting Contest Winner for Jazz/Blues category and featured on 107.1WHUD on Catherine Micheals show is performing for the benefit of JDRF."...I find Andrew's music to be quite genuine. After an enjoyable listening to his new EP "Beautiful You" late one night I found in it qualities that could be expressed easily with the metaphor of a dessert wine or perhaps more accurately an espresso. The defining characteristics of espresso include a thick consistency and a serving size that is usually measured in shots. It is both complex and volatile. This beautiful little CD possesses all of these traits and then some. It is warm. It is cozy. It satisfies the sweet tooth of the soul". Rick Rock, Director/Founder, Tribes Hill. Rick Estrin ranks among the very best harp players, singers and songwriters in the blues world. His work on the reeds is deep in the tradition of harmonica masters Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter Jacobs, while at the same time pushing that tradition forward. The... Associated Press calls his harp playing "endlessly impressive."In addition to his harmonica and vocal skills, Rick Estrin is a songwriter of unparalleled talent. Critics have compared his original songs to the work of Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, Willie Dixon and Leiber and Stoller. And his hipster, street-smart vocals are the perfect vehicle for driving those songs home. Blues Revue says, "Estrin has created some of the finest blues songs of any artist on the planet. His carefully wrought lyrics penetrate human weakness with the precision of a boxer, though more often than not, he chooses to leave you laughing after the blow's been struck."
