The Esopus Creek Conservancy and John Burroughs Natural History Society are co-sponsoring the first of two summer butterfly walks at Esopus Bend Nature Preserve in Saugerties on Sunday, July 15, 2012. We will visit the Preserve’s meadow and wetlands to search for mid-summer butterflies and observe plant and animal life.
Meet at 10:00 a.m. in the northeast corner of Saugerties Plaza (near the Credit Union) on Rte. 9W just south of the Village of Saugerties. We will carpool to the preserve. NOTE: OUR SUMMER MEETING LOCATION IS NOT AT THE VILLAGE OF SAUGERTIES BEACH.
Bring binoculars, insect repellant, and field guides if you have them. Be prepared for potentially wet/muddy trails, tall grass, and summer heat. Rain will cancel the walk. Children are welcome and encouraged, but please do not bring pets.

| Maria Muldaur is best known world wide for her '74 mega-hit "Midnight at the Oasis," which received several Grammy nominations, and enshrined her forever in the hearts of Baby Boomers everywhere; but despite her considerable Pop Music success, her 39-year career could best be described as a long and adventurous odyssey through the various forms of American Roots Music. During the folk revival of the early '60s, she began exploring and singing early Blues, Bluegrass, Appalachian "Old Timey" music, beginning her recording career in 1963 with the Even Dozen Jug Band and shortly thereafter, joining the very popular Jim Kweskin Jug Band, touring, and recording with them throughout the '60s.

Based in West Shokan, NY, Bruce is a three-time nominee for the Memphis based Blues Foundation’s Piano Player of the Year Award. He has performed on over 70 CDs and toured extensively with legendary blues, soul, and jazz artists including Greg Allman, Delbert McClinton, Jaimoe Johanson, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Fathead Newman, Joe Louis Walker, Maria Muldaur, and Big Mama Thornton.
The Bruce Katz Band plays unique, original blues, soul-jazz, and New Orleans inspired roots music that explores many aspects of American roots styles, while never losing its blues spirit and feel. This powerful three-piece band blends guitar, Hammond B3 organ, and drums together into a sound that is modern and yet traditional at its core.

In April, Pete celebrated with us for the release of his new CD, "The Levee", Pete's 2nd studio recording. "I'm very proud of the record. I think it's a great overview of my roots guitar playing, songwriting and evolution, and I think it will stand the test of time." It was produced by Grammy-nominated Blues guitarist Duke Robillard, who's worked with many music industry legends. Duke wrote, "To those who don't know [Petey] yet, you will soon!"

 Annette A. Aguilar (multi-percussionist, Band leader recording artist, producer and educator.) was born in San Francisco into a family from Nicaragua.
At the age of 16 she was sitting in and performing with renowned Latin artists from Santana, Cal Tjader and Pete and Sheila Escovedo (Sheila E). She earned a BA in music performance from San Francisco State Univ., and a MA from the Manhattan School of Music.
She has toured internationally and has performed and shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, The Grateful Dead, Darlene Love, Jefferson airplane, The Four Tops, Tito Puente, Dave Valentine, Ray Brown, and Mose Allison, among others.
She also has toured with Grammy award winning Broadway shows, has recorded for T.V. and film, and has been the principal timpanist for the Bronx Symphony since 1997.
In 1992, Annette formed her Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz Brazilian group, Annette A. Aguilar & StringBeans, which has just release their third CD "The Day Waits for NOBODY."

This free outdoor concert attracts thousands of people from across the Tri-State area, and has become one of Westchester's premiere summer music events. Duchess Di & the Distractions is a 7-piece band with classic horn section, double-bass, killer keyboards and Duchess Di at center stage. They will drive you to distraction with their unique style of risque Blues, Swing and Jump, and American roots music like Rockabilly and early Rock and Roll.
In true '40's Diva style, Duchess Di gets all dolled up in sequined, tight-fitting dresses, a gardenia tucked into her hair. The show they put on--with drama and style--makes for the most entertaining evening you'll ever have!
