This event is a fundraiser for the Rondout Valley High School Music department. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the music department so that students can enjoy the same quality of music education and performance, as budget costs loom ahead. The line up of local bands scheduled to play at the event includes: The highly talented local musicians are donating their time to help support the music and arts in public schools. Join us for a house concert featuring Travers Chandler & Avery County who perform hard driving traditional Bluegrass in the classic style of Bill Monroe. They were nominated by the IBMA for emerging artist of the year. Opening the show will be singer songwriter, Terry Kitchen from Boston who will be backed up by Mara Levine on harmony vocals. Admission is $20 per person ($15 for Borderline members) and we ask that you bring a cold put luck dessert dish to share with 4 other people. No alcohol will be permitted on premises. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Lena Bloch immigrated to Israel in 1990 to attend Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. She has traveled the world, performing in Israel, Holland, Italy, Germany, Belgium, England, Canada, Russia, Slovenia and United States. She is an inventive improviser and refreshing performer of jazz standards and has performed with jazz masters such as Mal Waldron, Johnny Griffin, Keith Copeland, Alvin Queen, Steve Reid, Arturo O'Farrill, George Schuller, Billy Mintz, and Bertha Hope, among others. Lena has performed in various venues in NY, such as Birdland, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Smalls Jazz Club, Sofia's, Fat Cat, and others.

The Hudson Valley Folk Guild's Friends of Fiddler's Green Chapter will be presenting a very special 100th Birthday Tribute to Woody Guthrie on Friday, June 8th at 8pm. The concert will be held at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Rt. 9 and Church Street in Hyde Park, NY 12538. Admission is $10; HVFG members/seniors $8.... Through a photographic exhibit and both an educational workshop and live musical performance, PocoNotes is bringing THE FACES AND VOICES OF THE BLUES, to Lackawanna County's historic Tripp House for the entire weekend of June 8-10, 2012.

Jim Gavenus, a Luzerne County resident and internationally-recognized documentary photographer, is renowned for the images he has captured of legendary musicians both in the preparation and performance of their craft. He has built a heralded career by traveling throughout the United States to a variety of concerts and festivals to put a "face" to the music.

Toby Walker is an exceptionally gifted fingerstyle guitarist, singer, songwriter and storyteller, who has dedicated his life to ensuring that the “voices” of The Blues are brought forward from their humble origins for future generations to enjoy.
