Daphne Willis is a young, fresh, inspired singer/songwriter who's been touring nationally to promote her latest CD, "Because I Can". Daphne's music has been met with critical acclaim. The title of Daphne's CD answers the question: "Why does she move from a saucy soul/funk gumbo to punchy pop/rock to VH1-ready piano balladry, all before the album's halfway mark?" Because she can. They're calling this CD "the defining work of a young artist who matters." Tonight, Daphne will be joined by two musicians who are frequent performers at 12 Grapes, saxophonists JP Patrick and Dave McDowell. They'll be performing Daphne's original music, and we think it's going to be phenomenal! We're honored that 12 Grapes is a stop on Daphne's national tour. If you love original music, great musicianship and outstanding vocals, do not miss this performance. **$10 Entertainment Fee or $5 with Dinner Entree** Listen on youtube

| Americana duo Lac La Belle, of Detroit, Michigan, juxtaposes the early decades of recorded rural American music with decaying Rustbelt aesthetic. A tradition is re-imagined- or maybe just resumed- in the ‘future-rustic’ swirl of accordion, ukulele, mandolin, banjo, resonator guitar and harmonizing vocals. The instrumentation echos another era, but is employed for a music of now. This will be their third tour through the East Coast since 2010, now traveling in support of their newly released EP, "Bring on the Light". Their newest release boasts six original works, performed with a variety of instruments from accordion to banjitar. Each song presents a melodic tale, be it intimate anecdote or tunes on their hometown Detroit, "Bring on the Light" captures the drifting spirit of early America. | ||

Holly Near is a skilled performer and an outspoken ambassador for peace who brings to the stage an integration of world consciousness, spiritual discovery, and theatricality. Near's professional career began with numerous performances in film, television and a run in the Broadway production of Hair. Torn between a career as an actor or a singer, Holly chose to pursue her love of music, especially that music which articulated the social conditions of the world community. In 1972, Holly Near was one of the first women to create an independent record company. Near's vision was to promote and produce music by politically conscious artists from around the world. Often cited as one of the founders of the "women's music" movement, Holly not only led the way for outspoken women into the music world, but also worked for peace and multicultural consciousness. Near has released 26 recordings of her own, including the seminal Imagine My Surprise, and performs as a guest on many others. More info at the Towne Crier Cafe

Like her famous brother James, folksinger Kate Taylor has shared a love for music since she could remember. Growing up, Taylor shared a dual musical heritage with brothers James, Livingston, Hugh, and Alex, who all became accomplished in music. Because of her Southern upbringing, Taylor music is deeply rooted in the region's soul, gospel, and rockabilly sounds, while the stylings of literate folk, pop, and Appalachian music completed that family's musical legacy. "I've been influenced by many musical traditions and they all weave through what I do," explained Taylor on her official website. "My music has at various times been described as pop, folk, rock, rockabilly, country, gospel and R&B. Growing up in the South, I was exposed to a wonderful diversity of musical styles."

The Austin-based Hot Club Of Cowtown has grown to be the most globe-trotting, hardest-swinging western swing trio on the planet. The first American band to tour Azerbaijan, they have opened stadiums for such artists as Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, and continue to bring their brand of western swing to a wide range of festival audiences all over the world. Remaining willfully out of the musical mainstream, Hot Club Of Cowtown has created an international cult following for its sonic personification of joy and unique sound inspired by its namesakes: "Hot Club," from jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli's Hot Club of France; and "Cowtown," from the western swing influence of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys.More info at the Towne Crier Cafe
