 Based in the Woodstock/Kingston area and playing a unique blend of Roots Rock, Soul and Funk, McGroovin’ is a great new band. They came together in early 2010 when Mike O’Leary – lead vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist – was working on a solo album. He brought in Steve Mulvaney – whom he had already been playing with in the smooth jazz band ds168 – on lead acoustic and electric guitars and Mike Colletti – with whom he’d played a number of dates as a duet for several years – on bass. The varied artistic leanings of the musicians which ran the range from jazz to blues to folk to funk came together to produce a rich and versatile sound.

 Adam Rudolph and Joseph Bowie will be performing as the duo "Igbo" at the Chapel of Our Lady Restoration, 45 Market Street in Cold Spring, NY, on Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 PM. Admission will be $15, and $10 for students and seniors with valid ID.
Rudolph and Bowie, world-renowned improvisers, first performed together in 2000 @ Lincoln Center with Yusef Lateef. They have collaborated together in numerous projects since then, including a trio with Omar Sosa and, most recently, in Adam Rudolph's Moving Pictures.
Their music is grounded in the American improvisational tradition while embracing music forms, languages, instrumentation, and cosmologies of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the African Diaspora. Decades of performance and research into these music cultures have given the artists the background and experience to create a unique and unprecedented improvisational art form. |

 Marc Black is one of the best bards to come out of the Hudson Valley. And, he's had quite a year. His Pictures Of The Highway CD was #34 for the year on the Folk DJ Chart; and he was named Folk Artist of the Year on ABC Radio's Fame Games. He's been deeply involved in the fight against hydro-fracking with his anthem of resistance...No Fracking Way. It's been played at rallies as far away as Ireland and Australia. Marc's I Love You Rachel Maddow music video has been viewed more than 41,000 times(!); and Sometime A Spark (an ode to the Tunisian fruit peddler who's act of resistance started a worldwide revolution) has received immediate notice and airplay in Europe and Tunisia. It will be officially released later this summer. Marc Black's band features veterans of the Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood and the Blues Magoos Bands. Happy Traum recently wrote about Marc's most recent CD, "Deep grooves, excellent playing, top notch guitar and vocals...Marc's songs are timeless."

IMH Director Dr. Muir draws from his large and exceptionally interesting repertoire, ranging from his individual take on well-known traditional items such as folk blues, to long-forgotten works, the result of his extensive researches into the music of the era. Repertoire includes: instrumentals by Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, James Scott, and Fats Waller; popular songs by major songwriters such as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, along with lesser known ones such as Isham Jones and Walter Donaldson; and a wide selection of gospel, blues and proto-blues material.

 2011 was a big year for Steve. He was a winner at the HV SongFest Emerging Artist Competition, Wildflower! Music and Art Festival songwriting competition, Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest (3rd Place) and a Kerrville New Folk finalist. In 2010, he was grand prize winner of the Music 2Life songwriting competition. Steve is well-loved by audiences and critics alike, and 12 Grapes especially!
Bill Kelly, aka "Mr. Americana", has an infectious charm and charisma on stage. On his CD, "Bread on the Waters", songs like "Seraphima" have been applauded by critics. But our favorite has to be "A Bottle of Wine Don't Last Too Long 'Round Here." Could be our theme song.
Melissa has performed at several of our songwriter showcases, including our 500th Performance event. She has a unique and beautiful voice, and her songwriting is fresh and original.

Though Martin is well known as a family entertainer, this album is aimed squarely at the adult listening audience. The 15 songs express themes of love and death, AIDS and autism, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Betty Boop and Buddha, celebration and sorrow. The music is rich and the lyrics poetry, proving Martin is a musician at the top of his game.

This Tuesday we are celebrate the 3rd anniversary of The Blues Party @ The High Falls Cafe. All our praise and gratitude go out to Buffy and Brian and their wonderful staff for making this extended run possible. Please remember to thank them...and support them. Pianist extraordinaire Mark Shane is our special guest this time around. Mark Shane’s jazz piano is firmly rooted in a tradition established by such piano masters as James P. Johnson, Fats Waller, Teddy Wilson, Count Basie, Earl Hines and Art Tatum. Shane has played with Benny Goodman, Buck Clayton, Buddy Tate and many other all star alumni from the great bands of Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller. We've also invited some of our esteemed regulars such as Bart Thrall, Bill Bannan, and Steve Beinart to join us for a song or two. So please come down and join us for the festivities.
Our Kids' Open Mic is a showcase for talented musicians and singers age 17 and under. Bring your guitar, bass, sax, flute or whatever instrument you play. We have a drum kit, keyboard, guitar & bass amps and microphones. Our Kids' Open Mic has become a popular favorite, and is always full of surprises and incredible talent.
