Sometime back in the late 1990’s Happy and Artie Traum started putting together holiday concerts to benefit the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild. They were called “Solstice” concerts to make them inclusive and non–sectarian…a celebration for the entire community. “Each year we gathered a collection of musically compatible friends, and the artist line–up became a “Who’s Who” of area talent.” recalls Happy. “The shows continued annually with great success until Artie’s untimely passing in 2008. The following year, feeling that this would have been his wish, I reinstated the tradition in Artie’s memory.”

Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.

The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.

The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!

Peekskill, NY   See Map
Were you here in August to see Chris O'Leary? What a show... what a night... what a band... they blew the roof off the place.

Chris O'Leary is one of the Hudson Valley's hottest Blues harp players, and his band is made up of seasoned Blues musicians, including "scorching" blues guitarist Chris Vitarello. With Sean McCarthy on drums, Will McCarthy on vocals, Frankie Ingrao on bass, and Andy Stahl and Chris DiFrancesco on sax, this band's powerful, horn-driven sets are marked by O'Leary wailing on harmonica.

Chris O'Leary was the lead singer and front man for Levon Helm and The Barnburners for over 7 years, touring across the US and lighting up stages everywhere they went. Chris has also appeared on stage with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Vivino, Albert Lee and Dave Edmunds, Dave Maxwell and many others. If you love great Blues, don't miss this night!

Martin Rivas
Acoustic
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffe Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
All great art has a sense of duality, and Martin Rivas’ music is a perfect portrayal of that. Within a sad song, there is a glimmer of optimism and trancendence; hidden beneath joyful, carefree notes, lies a sense of struggle and triumph. On the surface, the songs are uplifting and sweet to one’s ears, but if one digs deeper, they will find many more layers to each story. Martin Rivas’ music takes the listener on a journey that feels new and familiar, a most enjoyable ride. Charisma and undeniable warmth are just two of the many qualities Martin Rivas brings to the stage with his infectiously melodic songs and beaming smile. This West Village and Lower East Side mainstay has made a name for himself in New York City as one of the hardest working musicians around, playing gigs nearly every night that feature both original work and longtime favorites.

A Special Evening of Music & Song
with The Callen Sisters, Abby Payne, and Cassandra Frake
Singer-Songwriter, Acoustic
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
One of the nicest things about the Holidays is listening to beautiful music. This will be one of those nights. A duo and two solo acoustic artists will take their turns on our stage and treat us to their unique styles and talents.

The Callen Sisters write and sing from the heart; their lyrics speak of love, life, loss and the temporal nature of relationships. The harp lends a soothing, ethereal beauty to their original sound. Abby Payne is a singer/songwriter who is enchanted by words and their relationship to music. Her songs are insightful and poetic, yet they possess a hard edge that rocks. Cassandra Frake has "a voice like Jewel with a touch of Jazz". Cassandra's songwriting is creative, touching and refreshingly original.

Join us for this very special Singer/Songwriter Sunday. Free Admission.
