Peekskill, NY   See Map
Jonny Hirsch has established himself as one of New York City's most exciting solo artists. While other singers and saxophone players lead their bands exclusively on vocals or saxophone, Jonny is a multi-dimensional frontman - he leads the show with both his voice and saxophone.

The 29 year old singer/saxophone player is often compared to the likes of Jamiroquai, Steely Dan, and Karl Denson. While fusing together elements of rock, funk, jazz, and skat singing with a powerful voice and a dynamic saxophone, Jonny's music has taken on a genre all of its own.

Jonny has performed at the National Press Club and Presidential Inauguration Ball in Washington DC. He has also played on the same stage as Jimmy Eat World, Jurassic 5, The Neville Brothers, The Pietasters, Real Big Fish, and Sister Hazel. His most recent record LIVE FROM THE BATCAVE was featured on over 150 radio stations across the US, including 100.7FM WHUD.

130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Greg Brown's songwriting has been lauded by many, and his songs have been performed by Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Michael Johnson, Shawn Colvin, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. He has also recorded more than a dozen albums, including his 1986 release, Songs of Innocence and of Experience, when he put aside his own songwriting to set poems of William Blake to music. One Big Town, recorded in 1989, earned Brown three and a half stars in Rolling Stone, chart-topping status in AAA and The Gavin Report's Americana rankings and Brown's first Indie Award from NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors). The Poet Game, his 1994 CD, received another Indie award from NAIRD. His critically acclaimed 1996 release, Further In, was a finalist for the same award. Rolling Stone's four-star review of Further In called Brown "a wickedly sharp observer of the human condition." 1997's Slant 6 Mind earned Brown his second Grammy nomination.

CLANCY TRADITION

Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
The Clancy Tradition's origins are found in Ireland in the 1950s, when the Clancy family of Moy (in County Tyrone) formed a Ceili Band, playing at Irish country dances and concerts throughout Ireland. In 1960, brothers Pat, Eugene and Brendan Clancy left to tour the United States as the Irish Ramblers, playing at clubs like Gerde's Folk City & Carnegie Hall(!), and recording an album for Electra (The Patriot Game). Their musical tradition is currently being passed to the next generation with "The Clancy Tradition": Eugene Clancy on guitar & vocals, his daughter Rosemary Clancy on fiddle & mandolin, Eugen's son John Clancy on bass, Pat Clancy on piano & accordion, his daughter Liadain Clancy singing and Mike Melanophy on button accordion. We are honored that they chose the Towne Crier Cafe's stage to perform & record their live album.

“Unequaled bliss comes to the heart of the Yogi who hears the internal sound of the Nada”. -The Nada-Bindu Upanishad

By bringing our minds to single pointed attention on the internal sacred sound, we quiet the chatter of the mind and experience a deep feeling of comfort and contentment.

This meditation, based on the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, will be framed by mediations on the 4 levels of sound:

Vaikhari (external sounds) Madhyama (mental sounds) Pashyanti (visual sounds) Para (Eternal sound) The result will be to connect us with the Nada, the sound of the Universe, the sound of bliss.

Julie Corbalis sings songs not only of her life, but in a small part, yours, too. The relateability of these songs keeps her fan base coming back again and again. You get the sense when you listen to her that this is "a woman who has lived hard, loved hard, fallen hard and has picked herself up to do it again, regretting nothing." In her first solo effort, "Old Flames and New Names," Jules pours out her heart about past loves and "family stuff" and what results is a soulful collection of songs you'll be nursing your next broken heart to.

Jules says her influences include bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Black Crowes as well as solo artists like Sheryl Crow. She'll be playing originals as well as some pop/rock covers. Join us for another entertaining Singer/Songwriter Sunday.

“Rebecca Martin’s vocals are like Modigliani portraits. They share a sharply honed, less-is-more sensibility that, paradoxically, adds to their depth, their denseness and their haunting aftereffects”, says ”Jazz Times” magazine. "All About Jazz" calls Rebecca "a composer of considerable talent, approaching the repertoire that she serves up like a a mater-chef, creating rare and fine epicurean fare....this is gripping music from a star whose time has come”.

Accompanying Rebecca will be bassist Larry Grenadier.

"On The Wings of Love" will also be featuring bluesman Big Joe Fitz & "The Lo-Fi's", a set of Cajun music with "Cleoma's Ghost", and jazz standards performed by vocalist Bill Bannan accompanied by jazz guitarist Mark Dzuiba & bassist Robert Bard.

A $15.00 donation goes to benefit "Angel Food East" which is a non profit volunteer program that since 1992 has been providing hot meals 5 days a week to people living with HIV/AIDS in Ulster County.

John is a founding member of the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and still tours with them (40+ years!) - playing the whole "round trip" from folk to rock to country. The NGDB made over 24 albums, including the platinum-selling Will The Circle Be Unbroken, an integral part of Americana history and indisputably "one of the most important recordings ever come out of Nashville." -Rolling Stone :|: McEuen also takes his talents around the country in his solo shows and special concerts when the Dirt Band is not performing, incorporating his vintage instruments (banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin) with instrumental wizardry that keeps the audience entranced. His love for the history of acoustic music and his joy at being onstage is evident to all those who see him and hear him!

Steve Chizmadia is a singer/songwriter who has received considerable acclaim over the years. Most recently, Steve attended the 2010 Kerrville Folk Festival where his song, "Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bailout Blues", was one of eleven finalists in the Music2Life songwriting contest. Steve came home with the Grand Prize and got to perform on the main stage during the prestigious festival. It was his second time in Kerrville, the last as a 2003 finalist. Steve also showcased at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance in NY, and his CD, "It Is What It Is", was #12 on the folk D.J. charts in 2007. "This Old Town" (one of our favorites), received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in '05.

Tonight and every Wednesday is BURGER NIGHT, where every $10 Burger platter is "Buy One Get One Free". Join us tonight for great food, (at a great deal) and great music.
