Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.
The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.
The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!

The songs on this album are mostly self-penned, weaving vivid images, powerful lyrics, musical integrity and "chops" to write home about. The love of the sound that three female voices make together is at the center of this group. The chord rules the day. When the three hit "it," the hair on the back of your neck's gonna stand up. The difficult to pigeonhole sound that emanates from the band roams from old time "mountain" music to contemporary rock and roll influenced originals. Emily Yanek, a 3rd year music student at Capital Area School for the Arts in Harrisburg, is finally finishing the final stretch of her senior year. The singer/songwriter is recording her debut album, "Watching the Highway." She says her album reflects watching life from afar, and touching on scenarios we have all been in at some point. "You sometimes have to go places you don't want to go."
Originally influenced by Broadway music and theater, she will always have a place for Andrew Lloyd Webber. She later found herself drawn to the singer/songwriters of the 1970's. Her favorites being Jackson Browne and Dan Fogelberg.
She plans on making a living out of touring and making albums. After high school, she's going to hit the road doing small tours, while writing songs and selling records.

 Led by one of the area's top slide guitarists, The Geoff Hartwell Band opened for Gregg Allman at the Paramount in Peekskill this past November (photo). Geoff has also performed with rock legends such as Sonny Landreth, Tab Benoit and John Hammond and did a tour with guitarist Andy Aledort and drummer Yonrico Scott (from the Derek Trucks Band). In his recently released CD, "Hate to See You Go", Geoff is joined by long-time band members and world-class musicians including slide guitar legend Sonny Landreth.
The Geoff Hartwell Band features Geoff on slide guitar and vocals, Cary Brown on keys, Alex Nolan on guitar, Mike Wise on bass and JJ Clarke on drums. We're excited to welcome the GHB back to 12 Grapes.

 The 2010 Eisteddfod returns to the Hudson Valley for a second year with a fun-filled 3-days of traditional folk/roots music. Enjoy 30 or so outstanding performers in 30 workshops and three concerts, plus an open mike, late night singing, a contra dance, and informal socializing, and music making. Released in late 2009, Hogan has written and recorded his debut CD, 'Long Night Coming', featuring original roots, modern folk, and blues-based songs, as well as two familiar standards in the folk and country genres. Hogan’s work in songwriting and performing has seen him share stages with Geoff Muldaur, Ray Bonneville, Eilen Jewell, Les Sampou, Kris Delmhorst, Paul Rishell & Annie Raines, Spider John Koerner, Brooks Williams, and others, and he has recently headlined Club Passim, performed at the WUMB Music Fest (aka Boston Folk Festival), and showcased for the Boston Area Coffeehouse Association and the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference. The Boston Phoenix newspaper has called Hogan “a distinctive new musical voice”.

 A new, up-and-coming young band, "Tossing The Apple Core", consists of Yorktown High students Alex Finkelstein, Sierra Leitner and Justine DeCora, and Somers student Thomas Oliverio. Having just performed at both the Justin Veatch Foundation's Open Mic Night and Support Connection's Support-A-Walk Walkathon, they are more determined than ever to make strides in the local music scene. We're excited to offer them the opportunity to perform on our 12 Grapes stage.
Tossing The Apple Core has developed a large fan base already, with favorite songs like "Easy" as well as new songs like "October" and "Get Home", which highlight their raw musical talents. What makes TTAC unique is the fact that each member has the capability to play multiple instruments, a quality they feel keeps their audiences entertained. The band will be joined tonight by Melissa Frabotta, a 17-year-old singer/songwriter who's performed at many of our Sunday showcases and Open Mics.

The Swing Band is back... and hotter than ever! 12 Grapes is normally closed on Mondays, but the second Monday of each month we open at 6:00 for dinner to present this incredible 18-piece Big Band, featuring a full horn section with 5 sax's, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, and world-class drummer and bandleader Greg Westhoff.
