"Fancy a long weekend away from the panting tourists? Try not to resign yourself to another $19 Caesar salad in Montauk; up in the wonderfully temperate Hudson Valley, near Albany and West Point, the Warwick Valley Jazz Festival offers a solid lineup nuanced enough for most jazz appreciators. The thrice-daily offerings include electronic, salsa, and trad artists—the opening-night "Music in the Courtyard" gala, in rustic downtown Warwick Village, promises the Skye Jazz Quartet, and should be an especially cozy Americana evening."

~ from the Village Voice

The first annual Warwick Jazz Festival will be in the late summer of 2010 in the village of Warwick NY, August 26 - 29, 2010.

Where is Warwick NY? It's in the Hudson Valley NY, 45 miles from the George Washington Bridge. A beautiful setting lush with rolling farm lands, arty folksy town with great restaurants, beautiful B&B's, antique shops, art galleries and closer then the Hamptons is to NYC!

Pawling, NY   See Map
"Back To The Garden 1969" is comprised of a group of five musicians (two of which were at the original Woodstock festival) who have performed together in various combinations over the years, but joined forces specifically to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival. This proved to be so much fun for everyone ~especially those who've come out to see them~ that there was no reason to stop! The band covers the wide variety of musical styles and classic sounds associated with Woodstock, including acoustic and electric rock, acid rock, folk music, and soul. Their musical performances are a tribute to the artists who helped make Woodstock the epic event that, to this day, remains unparalleled. So... break out your tie-dye, put on your sandals, and don't forget to wear some flowers in your hair!

with Teresa Storch
Singer-Songwriter
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Audience members say it's like seeing Bonnie Raitt or Greg Brown when they first started. Teresa connects like she's known you forever and inhabits her songs so fully you can't help but be drawn in.

Her debut album "Stream of Concrete" is ambitious, stylish and remarkably diverse, mixing Tower of Power with Sarah MacLachlan by way of Hoagy Carmichael. It goes from folk-rock to soul-pop to confident funk.

Teresa has toured nationally since 2003 and is constantly moving-doing what she loves-connecting with people through music and stories. She has shared stages with the likes of Cliff Eberhardt, Dar Williams, Entrain, Ryan Montbleau, Peter Mulvey, Jonathan Byrd, and Mary Gautier and played venues throughout the country.

"She inhabits her songs so fully you can't help but be pulled into her world."– Boston Herald, Daniel Gewertz

"One of the most inventive writers and solid performers of the current crop of singer/songwriters coming out of Boston."–Vance Gilbert

Guy Davis
Blues, Acoustic, and Americana
Common Ground Downtown
44 Main Street
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
Join us for this special Labor Day Weekend concert with reknowned bluesman Guy Davis. Whether he is performing on TV, on nationally syndicated radio programs, in front of 15,000 people on the main stage of a major music festival, or teaching an intimate gathering of students at a music camp, Davis feels the instinctive desire to give each listener his ‘all’. His ‘all’ is the Blues. The routes and roots of his blues are as diverse as the music form itself. It can be soulful, moaning out a people’s cry, or as playful and bouncy as a hayride. He’s a musician, composer, actor, director, and writer. He’s appeared on television, in film, on the stage, both with and without his famous actor-activist parents Ruby Dee and the late Ossie Davis. Since 1995, he has released seven critically performing music acclaimed records. His latest album, “Legacy” was picked as one of the Best CDs of the Year by National Public Radio (NPR).

Rhett Tyler ~guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and producer~ is best known for his explosive style of scorching modern blues guitar and high-octane, house-rocking live performances. His music is certainly rooted in the tradition of blues, but Rhett also incorporates jazz, rock and gospel influences to create an innovative modern musical blend with his signature guitar style. Rhett has shared billing with many distinguished blues artists, including Johnny Winter, Delbert McClinton and John Hammond. John Swenson of Rolling Stone calls Tyler "a powerful front man, in the tradition of Johnny Winter [and] Jimi Hendrix. Rhett Tyler is the certain face of future blues."

I'm a 22 year old singer/songwriter from Raleigh, NC. My first gig was when I was 14, opening for a jazz band at a cute little coffee shop in Durham, playing all original songs on a borrowed 12 string guitar. With my brother playing bass with me. It was really rockin'. And pretty much killed the possibility of ever wanting a real job that wasn't music. In November of 2007 I started really focusing on getting my music heard and played at all of the local open mics, and from there getting shows at local venues. In 2008 I self released a home recorded demo, played at a bunch of local and not so local venues, and made the decision that, hey, this is really and actually what I want to do with my life. Which leads up to the present. In June of 2010, I'm quitting my lovely animal keeping job and going on a solo, self-funded but amazingly and luckily and wonderfully not exclusively self-encouraged or self-supported or self-enthused tour to try to get my music heard.

Captivating stylist, introspective chanteuse, musical explorer, songwriter's singer… Labels have never fully defined the voice and talent of Maura O'Connell. Self-described as "just a singer," Maura's multi decade singing career has brought her international acclaim and two Grammy nominations - including a 2010 nomination for her album, Naked. Maura O'Connell began her professional musical journey as vocalist for the traditionally-based Celtic group DeDanann. While in Dublin and on later trips to Nashville O'Connell met Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas and other top-flight acoustic players whose music resonated with her and influenced her then ground breaking musical penchant for blending Celtic traditions with a wide variety of other genres. O'Connell has lent her incredible voice to the projects of such artists as Van Morrison, James Taylor, Nanci Griffith, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, The Chieftains and Roseanne Cash. "Just a singer"...indeed!

At 16 years old, Connor Kennedy is already performing with world class musicians and making a name for himself in the Hudson Valley. A multi-instrumentalist, Kennedy plays all kinds of music delivered authentically with energy. Whether he's playing smooth blues licks, or twangy telecaster lines, Connor Kennedy will leave your ears wanting more. Performing with Connor are two young musicians of a rare caliber for their ages. On bass, is 18-year old Lincoln Center award winning bassist Shawn Ferraro. Shawn was awarded Most Outstanding Bass Soloist at the 2009 Essentially Ellington competition. On the drums, is the soulful 15-year old Lee Falco. Lee, like Levon Helm, is a singing drummer; a rarity in todays music scene. Together, the three voices of Connor, Shawn, and Lee produce wonderful three part harmonies remeniscent of The Band, and The Grateful Dead.

12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
If you missed their previous 12 Grapes performances, now's your chance! Andy Aledort has performed with scores of rock legends... Dickey Betts, the Allman's and the late, great, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Famous for meticulously capturing, note-for-note, the licks and tone of artists like Clapton and Hendrix, Andy Aledort is often tapped for high-profile appearances. When a band needs a player who can recreate the guitar work of Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Freddie King or Johnny Winter, Andy delivers in a big way. Aledort was once sought after by Aerosmith's Joe Perry for an emergency Blues lesson, and has performed as a member of the Dickey Betts and Great Southern band for the last five years, displaying masterful slide guitar work. Aledort also participated in a series of Jimi Hendrix Tribute concerts, including a three-city tour of the west coast with veteran bluesman Buddy Guy. Dinner Reservations recommended.
