Insightful and uplifting, his music speaks volumes yet retains a playful and catchy quality that will keep you listening for hours. His songs possess a hypnotic and earthy intelligence; a homage to his Latvian heritage.

Years of performing in the Mid- Atlantic Region lend a clear sophistication to the unique energy he creates at every show. Whether he is performing with a full band or is standing alone in the spotlight with his guitar, you will be moved; mind, body and soul.

This year marks the official release of "World Around" thru Aleksis' own label Sveiks Records, adding yet another accolade to this extremely talented and resourceful independent performing and recording artist.

Whether on acoustic guitar or violin, Drew's incredible musicianship and powerful vocals will stop you in your tracks.

Tonight, Drew is joined by his "little sis" Selena, a young, talented singer and guitarist. The duo performed together last year, and we were star-struck! Selena's voice is absolutely incredible... like brother like sister!

One could call Stephane Wrembel a Gypsy, a world traveler, for the music he plays and his lifestyle are expressive of the Gypsy way of life. Born in Paris, and raised in Fontainbleu (home of the music of Django Reinhardt). Stephane first discovered Django's music and the Gypsies while in his teens and spent the next ten years of his life learning, playing and expanding this tradition. This intense work gave him his technique, but the time he spent playing around campfires and trailers gave him his soul. Wrembel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College Of Music with studies in contemporary jazz, Indian, African and Middle Eastern music, but highlights of his career include recording his third album with the legendary David Grisman; opening for, and sitting in with Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Patti Smith; headlining at Lincoln Center; coaching Mariah Carey for her role as a singer/guitar player in Tenessee; and composing soundtrack music for Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Chris Ricketts and Mark Willshire
Singer-Songwriter, Folk/Traditional
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Chris Ricketts is a talented singer/songwriter from Portsmouth currently studying folk and traditional music at Newcastle University. Having been 'on the scene' from around the age of 15 and having received rave reviews from a host of musicians/journalists, Chris is already somewhat of a gigging veteran and decided to team up with bassist Mark Willshire in the summer of 2009.

The pair complement each other in a somewhat unorthodox manner- Chris' traditional guitar and vocal structures being interspersed with Mark's big, almost funk-like basslines. The combination creating a fresh take on a genre often written off before it has been given the chance it deserves.

With their album 'Simple Folk' Out Now with dates to support it following a short tour of the USA it should be a good year for the duo.

LOS STRAITJACKETS, guest host Unsteady Freddie
Rock (classic)
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Los Straitjackets has been making its brand of raucous, instrumental rock since 1994, and have become known as one of the most dynamic and skillful instrumental bands on the planet. Their renowned live show is filled with mind-bending guitar theatrics and group choreography. ...and, don't forget the wrestling masks each band member wears onstage. Right before the band's first gig - back when they were still just The Straitjackets - Amis pulled out a bag of wrestling masks he'd bought in Mexico City. The Los Straitjackets were born. In the past few years, this gimmick has been brought full circle as the band's last two gigs in Mexico City have been in front of stadium-sized crowds. The band's music can be heard in on soundtracks for TV shows including Malcolm in the Middle, and at least 10 feature films including Meet the Parents, Harriet the Spy, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and Two Days in the Valley. They are also a favorite of NBC funny man Conan O'Brien.
