Folk singer Chris Wilhelm has a voice that rings with a certain vulnerable sense of conviction. And indeed, this Boston-based singer/songwriter has seen a lot during his 16-year music career: In between his relocations from Hudson, New York to Albany and now to Boston, he has spent time busking for change in subway stations, singing open-mic nights in coffee shops, and altogether honing his delicate craft. His current songs reach a rare level of emotional urgency, steeped in a palpable sense of hope and understanding.

In 2000, the band recorded “MAGNETS! Live at the Earshot Jazz Festival” in Seattle which Kim co-produced with long-time Defunkt bandmate, trumpeter John Mulkerin. I love the Rosendale Cafe; they present world-class musicians and it's one of the few places I can go where I can order most anything they have on their menu!

What this is. Lifted from their site: "The Rosendale Cafe has been bringing notable performances to the area for 16 years. This more humble opportunity for local performances started with a very successful run of the Community Music Night, and the series has run on and off since fall 2007.

"The showcase has been a performance opportunity for both newly-established artists, and those that were outside the musical style of the Cafe's usual weekend bookings."

"Elegant yet raw, darkly emotional but also shot through with light, The Trapps new disc is full of surprising contrasts and casual beauty -- rangy, experimental roots-rock played with confidence and hope." - Jason Fine, Executive Editor, Rolling Stone Magazine

The Trapps are an American band that taps the roots of Americana, folk, and rock and roll, and wraps it all into a tightly-knit package that is entirely their own. Though their musical influences are far reaching, the greatest strength of the band is their commitment to the song - all at once they can grab you with powerful harmonies like the Jayhawks or rivet you with a high intensity jam like the Black Crowes. For The Trapps, the song is the law, and like the mountain climber, there are a great many ways to approach the ascent, but the thrill is to ultimately finish having learned something along the way.

Enjoy food, drink, and JAZZ.........Legend has it the ghost of a murdered socialite comes around waiting for a train she never caught. The menu focuses on comfort food like burgers, pot pie and meatloaf. There’s outdoor dining in summer, but live music, a raw bar and a fireplace inside the 1893 building mean year-round popularity.

Blues In A Bottle

Captain Cliffy's River Station
1 River St
Poughkeepsie, NY   See Map
"Blues In A Bottle's sound and energy pays homage to tradition, yet proves that the Blues is still and will always be relevant. As former rockers in a wide variety of bands from the 70's through the 90's, they re-discovered their rock roots in the blues and haven't looked back."

"Classic electric blues the way it's supposed to be played."

"Unlike a lot of so-called blues bands formed by former rockers, these guys have clearly listened up and taken their lessons and cues from the great masters."

Those influences include Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Junior Wells, & Elmore James to B.B, Freddie, and Albert King, to Otis and Ray Charles, Buddy Guy and Pine Top -- as well as such modern masters as Stevie Ray, Robert Cray, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, and many others.

La Puerta Azul has rave reviews from the Poughkeepsie Journal, Chronogram, Hudson Valley Magazine, and many others. Come on out for the great food and atmosphere, then stay for the show!

"When she takes the stage there's a change in the air as if something explosive is about to happen. And then comes that VOICE. Thunder rumbles, lightening bolts from the sky, sparks fly everywhere! Her live performances are all this and more."

Alexis P. Suter has won the praise of greats from B.B. King to Levon Helm. The band has opened at Helm's Midnight Ramble Sessions in Woodstock over 80 times and have performed at blues festivals up & down the east coast. Along with The Levon Helm Band, they play sold-out shows wherever they go, including Central Park's Summerstage. Recently, Alexis and the band performed on Imus in the Morning and in Feb, they headlined at BB King's to a sold-out crowd. At the '09 NYS Blues Fest they performed with Blues Brother, Dan Aykroyd.

The band also features Benny Harrison on keyboard, the Bennett Brothers on guitars, Ray Grappone on drums, and back-up vocalists Vicki Bell and Linda Pino.
