You can't help but get up and dance to this band!!! Jerry and the "Brothers" are one of the tightest, coolest, funky-est, baddest bands around. Whatever you do, do not miss this performance. Jerry's an accomplished singer, songwriter and bass player, influenced by the Blues and Country Music. His entree into the NYC Blues scene was by way of the now infamous Dan Lynch Blues Bar, running the Saturday afternoon jam session there. This little bar became the hub of the Blues scene in NYC. Jerry calls his time there "an education that could not be replicated." His band is comprised of a lighting-fast guitarist, killer drummer and a keyboard player who also wails on the sax. "My mission is to write and sing great songs. A great song can touch you the way nothing else can. A great song can take complex issues and break them down so everyone can understand them." Well said, Jerry. **Free Admission** Take a listen

Later, Joshua expanded his musical repertoire to include rock and roll, drawing on his classical and Irish background, and with his band Sinclair, released the album Stories of this Land in 2002. Joshua recorded and produced the 2004 Morris Family release Farewell to Summer. After moving to Beacon, NY in 2008, Joshua has continued his musical ambitions, melding his voice, violin and guitar into a solo act adept in both faithful traditional tunes as well as improvised original work. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
Keeping alive the tradition of roots/ska/reggae realness, the Big Takeover's refreshingly upbeat and original.
You’ll find it hard to believe that all the cuts on their Debut CD "Following Too Close" are originals, as they magnificently capture early rocksteady riddims with supertight songwriting. Lead singer Nee Nee Rushie, a native of Jamaica, leads her five bandmates in what is arguably one of the best upstate NY groups in recent memory. The Big Takeover leans hard toward reggae’s more up-tempo parents, ska and rocksteady, and their high energy has audiences jamming from start to finish. Admission: $10

"My life experiences and the lessons I've learned from them are all what I write about. I guess it speaks to a lot of people and I'm glad my listeners relate to my songs. Life is not all warm and rosy. It's about choices, learning, love and pain- and all these things a result of one-another, funny enough." (figuratively and literally) approach and work
with material that I felt was complete in
representing my experience in all styles of
music over the years”.

phenomenal Pat Bianchi on the organ and
Carmen Intorre on drums , two of the most
exciting voices in modern jazz today.
