Potter's voice earns its inevitable comparisons with Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams.” (USA Today). A great live band, this Vermont-based crew made a name for themselves opening for the likes of Dave Matthews, The Black Crows, and Gov't Mule. The Funky Side of Blues

Blues, Americana. incredible, outstanding, amazing
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
You can't help but get up and dance to this band!!! Jerry and the "Brothers" are one of the tightest, coolest, funky-est, baddest bands around. Whatever you do, do not miss this performance. Jerry's an accomplished singer, songwriter and bass player, influenced by the Blues and Country Music. His entree into the NYC Blues scene was by way of the now infamous Dan Lynch Blues Bar, running the Saturday afternoon jam session there. This little bar became the hub of the Blues scene in NYC. Jerry calls his time there "an education that could not be replicated." His band is comprised of a lighting-fast guitarist, killer drummer and a keyboard player who also wails on the sax.

"My mission is to write and sing great songs. A great song can touch you the way nothing else can. A great song can take complex issues and break them down so everyone can understand them." Well said, Jerry.

IRISH MUSIC, CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE
with Joshua Morris
Irish (traditional), Acoustic
Elsie's Place
1475 Route 208
Wallkill, NY   See Map
Joshua Morris began performing classical music at an early age with his father, mother, brother and sister, he began performing around the south, and the Morris Family became well known for their beautiful Irish harmonies. Later, Joshua expanded his musical repertoire to include rock and roll, drawing on his classical and Irish background, and with his band Sinclair, released the album Stories of this Land in 2002. Joshua recorded and produced the 2004 Morris Family release Farewell to Summer.

After moving to Beacon, NY in 2008, Joshua has continued his musical ambitions, melding his voice, violin and guitar into a solo act adept in both faithful traditional tunes as well as improvised original work.

Joshua currently designs recording studios and other acoustically-sensitive spaces for Walters-Storyk Design Group in Highland, NY.

Roots Ska and Reggae Live at the BRC

Roots Music, Ska
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Keeping alive the tradition of roots/ska/reggae realness, the Big Takeover's refreshingly upbeat and original. You’ll find it hard to believe that all the cuts on their Debut CD "Following Too Close" are originals, as they magnificently capture early rocksteady riddims with supertight songwriting. Lead singer Nee Nee Rushie, a native of Jamaica, leads her five bandmates in what is arguably one of the best upstate NY groups in recent memory. The Big Takeover leans hard toward reggae’s more up-tempo parents, ska and rocksteady, and their high energy has audiences jamming from start to finish.

RIVER SPIRIT MUSIC
134 Southside Avenue
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
We are thrilled to launch our new music series with singer/songwriter Loretta Hagen, who has been building a following throughout the NY Metro area. Loretta has been writing and performing music that has earned rave reviews for her rich vocals and poignant songwriting. She has a style that mixes country, rock, and folk music. With her big alto, she covers many of the standard subjects: love found, love lost, love missed, love almost found and a whole lot of personal redemption. All of it is gripping and real. Hagen has toured with blues guitar legend Johnny Winter and has performed in venues such as Music At The Mission, Outpost In The Burbs, The Mainstage, Minstrel Coffee House, Black Potato Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and many more clubs and concert halls opening for artists such as Gin Blossoms, Roger McGuinn, Jonathan Edwards, The Kennedys, Steve Forbert, John Gorka, Ellis Paul, Richie Havens, Johnny Winter, and Ollabelle, as well as headlining her own shows.

Pawling, NY   See Map
Jim Dawson is one of the great singer/songwriters of our generation with a large body of intensely loyal admirers of his songwriting and his amazing voice. He's warm, genuine and personable – and his magic is especially powerful in concert. With a recording career that has continued to grow since the 1970s, Jim's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Mary Travers and Elmo (from Sesame Street). :|: Jim says that "A long time ago, Lori Lieberman and I shared a week at perhaps the most influential nightclubs in the world. We killed the joint. As a singer, songwriter, recording and performance artist, to this day Lori remains among the upper echelon of American musical artists. Her breathtaking voice, often like warm honey, her honest and beautiful songs, her exquisite arrangements, the utter integrity of her presentation and her gentle connection to our souls reminds us softly of our human condition."

Red Hook, NY   See Map
After working with producers and musicians from New York to New Zealand, Laura MacLean, a New York indie singer-songwriter, has released her debut CD. "If The Shoe Fits Wear It Out" is exactly what she did during the process of this album. With a strong female demographic, MacLean's songs speak to women, around the world, ages 14 and up. It is not uncommon that a fan comes backstage to say that her songs could be right from their own diary. "I've lived a little- I've traveled the world and met a lot of people", MacLean states. "My life experiences and the lessons I've learned from them are all what I write about. I guess it speaks to a lot of people and I'm glad my listeners relate to my songs. Life is not all warm and rosy. It's about choices, learning, love and pain- and all these things a result of one-another, funny enough." MacLean hopes that her music can be a positive influence to her listeners.

Jazz Guitarist John Basile returns to the roots and presents a soulful organ based collection of standards, originals, latin, and 70’s pop tunes. “ For this project we wanted to approach the music, choice of musicians, and conception totally from an organic (figuratively and literally) approach and work with material that I felt was complete in representing my experience in all styles of music over the years”. “ No Apologies”, features the the phenomenal Pat Bianchi on the organ and Carmen Intorre on drums , two of the most exciting voices in modern jazz today. “ With a few 70’s pop tunes, straight ahead standards, a movie theme, a few originals, and some samba/latin grooves, we had a ball in creating a very complete musical menu that entertains from start to finish.” Samples can be heard at: www.johnbasile.net.
