Based in Orange County, NY, Small Town Sheiks call on their wide variety of musical talents and influences to create a unique sound that serves as a foundation for songs that draw on all facets of the human experience. Steeped deeply in the roots of the American musical tradition, they employ a simple formula: The Song is The Focus. Although each is an accomplished instrumentalist, they never lose sight that the purpose of music is to touch the listener with song. To this end, they provide an eclectic musical frame for the picture that the songs’ words paint.

Correy Valle is a seven year old Hudson Valley boy, Who suffers from a rare degenerative problem S M A.
(Spinal Muscular Atrophy).
S M A affects the spinal cord and nerves resulting in muscular wasting and weakness.
Corey is in need of a wheelchair accessible van. His prior van was destroyed by fire, just before last Thanksgiving. Unfortunaely insurance will not cover the cost of a new van, and Medicaid will NOT pay for a lift in an older van.
Corey will require further surgeries and as he gets older, its getting more difficult to lift and carry him.
A van with a lift will also allow him to travel with his motorized wheelchair and not have to be restricted or lifted in or out.
If that wasn't enough for any family to handle, Correy's Mom was let go from her job, because she needed to be with Correy in the city for his last two surgeries.
For further information, Please contact Terry Teeling, founder of the Corey Valle fund at (845) 632-1968. See Map

Saturday 8:30 pm | FRED EAGLESMITH, with special guest Joe D'Urso Singer-Songwriter, Acoustic | Towne Crier Cafe 130 Route 22 Pawling, NY See Map |
A fiercely independent and original artist, Fred Eaglesmith's devoted fans follow him from one show to another to savor what one reviewer calls the "fury and fun" of his concerts – frequently as hilarious as the best stand-up comedians. Drawing from folk, country, rock, gospel, old-time music and bluegrass (he's the only Canadian to ever write a #1 bluegrass hit), Eaglesmith's 17 albums have consistently evoked critical raves while also hitting the upper reaches of americana charts. Fellow songwriters regularly record his songs and sing his praises; Martin Scorsese and James Caan have used his compositions in film projects; his songs have even become part of the course curriculum at 2 colleges. New Yorker magazine said it best: "If you're missing Fred Eaglesmith, you're really missing out." More info at the Towne Crier Cafe

Last week's snowstorm put a bit of a damper on all of the Chick Magnets being able to be here last Saturday (Feb, 27th), but there's nothing to stop them this Saturday night (March 6th), unless it's the end of the world. 40 West is a happening weekend party hot-spot in Marlboro, NY and it really hops when Dave has Joe Paj & the Chick Magnets as the musical entertainment. The word is spreading that this is one of the best bands currently playing in the Hudson Valley. Not only will you enjoy their authentic, or sometimes not, renditions of the music they cover, but this band knows how to have fun with some of their get ups and audience participation. If you know anyone who's had the pleasure of seeing/hearing this band they'll tell you that you'll not be disappointed. And then you'll tell your friends "These guys did this and/or that and you have to check them out." So don't deny yourself.

Joshua recorded and produced the 2004 Morris Family release Farewell to Summer. After moving to Beacon, NY in 2008, Joshua has continued his musical ambitions, melding his voice, violin and guitar into a solo act adept in both faithful traditional tunes as well as improvised original work. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
Keeping alive the tradition of roots/ska/reggae realness, the Big Takeover's refreshingly upbeat and original.
You’ll find it hard to believe that all the cuts on their Debut CD "Following Too Close" are originals, as they magnificently capture early rocksteady riddims with supertight songwriting. Lead singer Nee Nee Rushie, a native of Jamaica, leads her five bandmates in what is arguably one of the best upstate NY groups in recent memory. The Big Takeover leans hard toward reggae’s more up-tempo parents, ska and rocksteady, and their high energy has audiences jamming from start to finish. Admission: $10

Hagen has toured with blues guitar legend Johnny Winter and has performed in venues such as Music At The Mission, Outpost In The Burbs, The Mainstage, Minstrel Coffee House, Black Potato Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and many more clubs and concert halls opening for artists such as Gin Blossoms, Roger McGuinn, Jonathan Edwards, The Kennedys, Steve Forbert, John Gorka, Ellis Paul, Richie Havens, Johnny Winter, and Ollabelle, as well as headlining her own shows. Jim Dawson is one of the great singer/songwriters of our generation with a large body of intensely loyal admirers of his songwriting and his amazing voice. He's warm, genuine and personable – and his magic is especially powerful in concert. With a recording career that has continued to grow since the 1970s, Jim's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Mary Travers and Elmo (from Sesame Street). :|: Jim says that "A long time ago, Lori Lieberman and I shared a week at perhaps the most influential nightclubs in the world. We killed the joint. As a singer, songwriter, recording and performance artist, to this day Lori remains among the upper echelon of American musical artists. Her breathtaking voice, often like warm honey, her honest and beautiful songs, her exquisite arrangements, the utter integrity of her presentation and her gentle connection to our souls reminds us softly of our human condition."
