She began her career in performance in coffeehouses around Atlanta, where she also records in her home studio. In 2008, Katerina Hope began studying at New York University, where she is currently pursuing a degree in music. Though she has only been in New York City for a short time, she has already begun to leave her mark on the music scene. She plays at local hot spots such as the Bitter End and the Bowery Poetry Club, where, after her latest set, poet Michael Rechtenwald described Katerina Hope and her work as “the next big thing” in the world of music.

John St. Jam
16 John St.
Saugerties, NY   See Map
Once a month we put eight of the area's best artists together for some musical magic. We do two 'rounds' of four players each with an intermission. The four performers are seated in the center facing each other, the audience is circled around them, only a few feet away. The cozy, living room setting is intimate and friendly, and the performances are always top-notch. Musical styles range from folk to blues, from rock to ragtime. You might hear Celtic folk songs interspersed with everything from Robert Johnson to Joni Mitchell to some of the best original music you can imagine. A truly eclectic evening of great acoustic music served with charm and humor.

The New Guys are a hard working four piece band, playing a mix of tunes from many genre's, including Blues, R&B, and Classic Rock. They recently added a great guitar player, Bobby Mazz to the mix, opening up a whole new type of sound and expression for us. They also have been fortunate to have Gary Brooks sit in with them for the last few gigs on keys and sax. Recently, someone at a club said to them "You guys sound like a freight train in a hurricane!" That pretty much sums it up. They have been playing clubs throughout the Hudson Valley for a few years now bringing their unique music style that is refreshing and long overdue. Time to party & dance to their rocking sound at our downstairs fireside lounge. See ya there.

It's said that "Denét can bottom out like Chaka and shares air with Aretha." Described as a virtuoso who lends her vocal flair to every song she sings, Rhonda is a soulfully gifted singer whose influences range from Jazz to R&B to 80's standards, and she even adds her own inspirational ballads. With a repertoire that spans from Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Anita Baker to Stevie Wonder to the pop band Journey, Rhonda puts a soulful spin on everything she sings, with a voice that will take your breath away.

The Rhonda Denét Project includes the "vocal pyrotechnics" of Miss Rhonda Denet along with Dave McDowell on sax and flute, Juan Gallego on guitar and bass and Chuck Batton on drums. Special guest tonight Bill Gulino on keyboard.

The chemistry, the soul, the sheer joy that comes from the stage as these guys perform is electrifying.

"Country flavored folk steeped in Texas and Louisiana with New York grit." That about sums up Steve Chizmadia, a songwriter from Long Island who has the Long Horns of Texas in his soul. Each song tells a story, and brings us to places across the country in his own endearing, Americana style. His songs have received some acclaim over the years. Steve is a 2003 Kerrville New Folk finalist and in 2005 his song "This Old Town" received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. He has showcased at Northeast Regional Folk Alliance in New York, and "It Is What It Is" was #12 on the folk D.J. charts in 2007.

Whether he's singing pull-at-your-heartstrings tunes like "It's Always Texas" or economic-comic-relief songs like "The Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bailout Blues", Steve Chizmadia is a songwriter not to be missed.

Neil Alexander & Nail presents their Annual Winter Solstice Celebration, at the Turning Point Restaurant on Thursday December 17th at 8:00 PM. Admission is $15. The winter solstice was the most important date on ancient calendars. Prehistoric monuments like Stonehenge and Newgrange in Ireland indicate the day with remarkable precision. Neil Alexander & Nail will honor the day with their usual mix of burning grooves, soaring soundscapes and red-hot jazz. This will feature longtime drummer Nadav Zelniker & bass virtuoso James Cammack (Ahamd Jamal) on both electric & acoustic bass, and guest appearances by local musical luminaries Premik Russel Tubbs and the wonderful vocalist Judi Silvano. The Turning Point Restaurant, located at 468 Piermont Avenue in the tiny Hudson River town of Piermont NY, is a venue well known for bringing World Class artists to an intimate local setting. In addition, we will be collecting canned food donations for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.
