Unitarian Church Hall
Sawkill Rd
Kingston, NY   See Map
Over 30 notable regional folk singers will be jamming together in one place this week. A Hootenanny, scheduled for November 22 at the Unitarian Fellowship on Sawkill Road will be celebrating the art of singing together.

“It’s a Hoot, not a concert” said Bob Lusk, from Heritage Folk Music. “Many wonderful performers can only perform solo or when their material is tightly rehearsed. The magic of a Hootenanny is that performers are coming together to spontaneously share their folk traditions on stage in front of a live audience, who is also singing (and perhaps playing) along with them.” Rich Bala –- Jim Donnelly– Bob Lusk - Terri Masardo - Norm Wennet – Hank Yost - Bruce Blair - Bob Horan - David Howells - Pat Keating - Pat LaManna - Norm Wennet -Phil Miller – Melissa Ortquist - Deb Martin – Kingston Sea Chantey Singers – Enrico Skull - Linda Lewis Grigg In addition to the music, the event will include an auction of musical items and folk music memorabilia

Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Symbolism, imagery, collage and paint are the themes and mediums that Victor Littlejohn uses in his artwork to explore painful social and economic perspectives from the recent past. It serves as a potent reminder of the psychological effects of suppression that remains a veiled specter in today's society.

Tactile layers of news media, quilt work, and metal combined with painting, result in a collage that convey overlapping ideas from the past and the present. Ideas of simplistic beauty, desire, hope and fortitude in the collective soul of black women.

Singer/Songwriter Showcase

Singer-Songwriter

12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Mike Clifford has recently returned from a tour in Australia, where he was featured on a radio show there. Mike's performed with a number of world-renowned artists, including Gavin DeGraw and Richie Havens. His songwriting skills are fresh and his eclectic style will leave you wanting more.

Kevin Haden is a songwriter who performs an infectious mix of folk, rock, and soul. Of all of his releases and compositions, "Mercy" is Kevin's favorite. Listeners "never get bored sifting through its musical layers...It was the song I wanted to hear that nobody else had recorded... stylistically, it's a near perfect blend of everything I've ever wanted to do." Shades of Tracy Chapman, Prince, Seal and Tool can be found throughout. The limits of where Kevin Haden will go, both creatively and professionally, know no bounds.

Come enjoy these two talented singer/songwriters.

The New Guys are a hard working four piece band, playing a mix of tunes from many genre's, including Blues, R&B, and Classic Rock. They recently added a great guitar player, Bobby Mazz to the mix, opening up a whole new type of sound and expression for us. They also have been fortunate to have Gary Brooks sit in with them for the last few gigs on keys and sax. Recently, someone at a club said to them "You guys sound like a freight train in a hurricane!" That pretty much sums it up. They have been playing clubs throughout the Hudson Valley for a few years now bringing their unique music style that is refreshing and long overdue. Time to party & dance to their rocking sound at our downstairs fireside lounge. See ya there.

I love playing music in Woodstock on Thanksgiving weekend. And there's no group of musicians I'd rather play with than this wonderful band...Warren Bernhardt, Mike Esposito, Eric Parker, and Betty MacDonald on her magic violin.

We're gonna celebrate some of the songs we love. And also get into lots of new originals, including one that I'm proud to say, Pete Seeger recently called 'a beauty'. And another that was key to my being named 'Folk Artist of the Year' by ABC Radio's Fame Games.

There's also gonna be some great special guests during the evening. On this night, it's all about the dancing. We all hope you can make it.

"Sometimes when you step out with a new project for the first time, it's slow and gentle and cautious, and then sometimes you kick the door in and run to find what there is out there for you. Well, we'll pay for the door!" And so begins the legend that will become T.Ray & the Smokin' Section, a band that brings together some of the finest musicians in Westchester County to play Soul, Blues, R&B and Rock. Driven by a three piece horn section and powerful lead vocals, the smokin' section behind them truly burns! Whether its classic horn driven rock from Chicago or Blood Sweat and Tears, classic Chicago blues or Memphis soul, this band smokes! The bandmembers are T. Ray Stevens, vocals, Tom Provenzano, guitar, Leslie Bloom, bass, Chris Burke, organ/ piano, Matt Norris, drums, Bill Losier, trumpet, John Hahn, trombone, Marc Beladino, sax. Join us as we welcome this new band to the 12 Grapes stage.
