Bob Lusk
Acoustic, Irish (traditional), and Folk/Traditional
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
From the Hudson and the Catskills, to the rural South, by way of the big clipper ships, the far east and the British Isles, Bob Lusk's songs encompass the whole world and hundreds of songs.

A veteran of both the Irish and American folk circuit, Bob is an experienced balladeer and multi-instrumentalist. He sings in a strong baritone, from rousing "pub song" favorites to tender love songs and accompanies himself on guitar, cittern, banjo, and button accordion.

Like the minstrels of old, he performs songs that weave a tale of people’s history. His songs also reflect a strong social conscience and a lifetime of working for peace, justice and social action. He is a long time member of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild, and a former staff member of Sing Out! Magazine, the country’s premier folk music magazine.

with Julie Ziavras
Classical/Opera. staged, costumed with orchestra
Montgomery Senior & Community Center
36 Bridge St.,
Montgomery, NY   See Map
The Unstaged Opera company presents the Delaware Valley Opera's critically acclaimed production of Puccini’s most famous and heartwrenching scores. Love despair and death... a tragic story of young Parisian artists. Sung in Italian with English supertitles, fully staged and costumed with chamber orchestra conducted by Artistic Director Dr. Jim Blanton.

Critics have said of this production that “cast members capture their characters with excellent singing and acting… authority and skill… dramatic verve and virtuosity” (Times Herald Record) and that they “have incredible range and deliver strong, powerful renditions of Puccini’s lush and romantic score… beautiful to listen to.” (The River Reporter)

Julie Ziavras in the role of Mimi with Erik Sparks as Rodolfo, Jeanne-Marie Lowell as Musetta, Eric Barsness, Gustavo Morales and Mark Garguilo.

Singer/Songwriter Showcase
with Drew Bordeaux, Cassandra Frake, Bill Kelly
Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Drew Bordeaux (pictured here ) is a highly accomplished singer/songwriter and musician. He performs soulful originals as well as covers. On occasion, Drew will treat us to his electric fiddle, for a unique sound that is truly inspirational. See below for a link to his new youtube channel!

They say she "has a voice like Jewel with a touch of Jazz." Cassandrea Frake has been featured on lohud.com's Listening Room. Her songwriting is creative, touching and uniquely original. Influences include Joni Mitchell, John Mayer and Nora Jones.

Billy Kelly is a folksinger who plays and sings from the heart. One of our favorites is "Seraphima", a tune that's been applauded by the critics. His song "She's Single Again" was featured in NBC's TV show, Ed. His songs are down home Americana and totally entertaining. Bill is warm and genuine, and we love how he makes each song his own.

SONNY LANDRETH, with special guest GEOFF HARTWELL
Blues, Cajun/Zydeco, and Rock (modern)
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
When it comes to Sonny Landreth, even Eric Clapton is a fan: "He's probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced." As if to back his words up with actions, Clapton honored Landreth with the #1 time-slot at his 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival. An amazing back & forth musical conversation between these two greats can be seen on Youtube. Mark Knopfler can also be seen on Youtube, praising Sonny Landreth's slide guitar playing before they perform together. In a world where truly great guitar practitioners dot the globe like as many mountain pinnacles on our planet, Sonny Landreth's techniques seem to leave his guitar floating artfully, impossibly above. Talent in such a rarified atmosphere seems fragile & ephemeral – leaving one resolved to appreciate it while it's here, while wishing him a long, healthy and productive life!

Acoustic Alchemy enjoys a rich legacy of extensive airplay, loyal fans and critical reception for their many jazz/new age recordings, most notably featuring the guitar team of Nick Webb & Greg Carmichael. When Nick Webb passed away in 1998, he wanted Acoustic Alchemy to carry on in sharing their music, and so Greg Carmichael and longtime sidemen Frank Felix (bass), Greg Grainger (drums), and Fred White (keyboard) continue this happy task, spreading the spirit with the able assistance of guitarist Miles Gilderdale.

201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
A quirky blend of personalities and musical influences, the Ya Yas have been regulars on the Long Island music scene, performing in coffeehouses and cafes, local festivals, and private concert venues, toured 3 years with Dave Isaacs' country-roots band Jackalope Junction, and now call the Hudson Valley their home, where they are hard at work on their second album.

Seeing these three perform is like spending an evening with them in their living room - inviting, entertaining, and a little goofy. Their songs can range in feel from folk-pop to country-tinged to singer-songwriter-with-groove. What remains constant are well-crafted songs with deceptively simple lyrics about people you feel you might know, people who view themselves and the world with both honesty and compassion.

Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Since the last milenium the artistry of David (Dr. Easy) Reed has been earning respect from audiences and critics alike throughout the northeast USA, Europe and the Caribbean. A founding member of the seminal jam rock band, Max Creek, Reed has since developed into a delightful fingerstyle acoustic guitarist & multi-instrumentalist (ever heard a 'Reggae Banjo' or a conch shell 'TuTu'?), explorational singer/songwriter, way-cool whistler and seasoned performer. The good "Dakta" brings a smile to the face and a tap to the toe of young and old with his tasty and eclectic blend of rockin' NewFolk, rompin' ragtime, snappy country blues, inspired original songs and wonderous interpretations of many other popular artists' songs . . . all served up with a dash of spicy, sun-drenched Caribbean reggae & calypso.

Alchemy of Woodstock
297 Tinker Street
Woodstock, NY   See Map
Mestengo was born in Phoenicia NY in the winter of 2008, at a musical party where Dave Kearney and Elly Wininger found that they not only loved the same songs, but that their interpretations meshed to create exciting new versions. When their original songs took flight with the same synergy, they knew they had something worth sharing. And they have been doing just that ever since. They recently opened a show for Tom Rush where the full house confirmed that Mestengo’s music reaches audiences and makes them feel good.

STEVE FORBERT
Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
In the past quarter-century, the Mississippi-bred, Nashville-based singer/songwriter has built a deeply personal body of work that's won him a reputation for clear-eyed insight and plainspoken eloquence. In the process, he's evolved from the wide-eyed young troubadour of his early classics -- Alive On Arrival and Jackrabbit Slim -- to the mature, bittersweet outlook of his more recent work, which surveys darker territory with hard-won empathy and deeply-ingrained rock 'n' roll soul.
