40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
The product of too much black coffee and not enough hugs, the Honeycutters (formerly the Bee's Knees) came together in the Spring of 2007. Since their first live performance at the Westville Pub in May of 07, when the band included only singer/songwriter Amanda Anne Platt and lead guitarist Peter James, they have steadily gained momentum, audience, and band members. Spencer Taylor (Mandolin), Ian Harrod (bass), and Mike Lott (drums) have been added to the mix, fleshing out the live sound and turning Amanda's soulful tunes into great dance numbers. With the release of their first studio album, "Irene", the group has begun to expand their listening area to the greater Southeast. Their original americana, ranging from country ballads to honky-a-billy and blues, is a memorable blend of catchy melody, skillful composition, and honest songwriting

Frankie Morales and the Mambo of the Times Orquestra. After singing w/ Tito Nieves, Frankie became Lead Singer for "El Rey Del Timbal", Tito Puente & traveled the world with him. He won Grammys for the recording of "Tito Puente Mambo Birdland", and "Masterpiece" with Eddie Palmieri. Subsequently, he recorded "DanceMania" with Puente's band live from Club Birdland, also nominated for a Grammy.

CHARANSALSA "Pito" Castillo was part of Copacabana Orquestra for many years. There, he performed with some of Salsa’s greatest Latin singers including Celia Cruz & countless others. His band plays swinging Latin Music for dancers and fans, rooted in tradition, but influenced by modern harmony and rhythms and that good old Latin swing.

The Alchemy Unit was formed in 2004 through the mind and music of Ash Umhey, a guitarist who had been playing around the Woodstock music scene since 1998. Following the embryonic debut Bird Lips, things began to take shape with the release of the Moon Strings on the Fringe album in 2006. The following year, The Alchemy Unit moved to a new studio to begin recording the next album entitled Eprouvette Ascenseur, and rehearsing for some live shows. By late 2008, the band had settled into a new lineup, equally divided between extended improvisations and structured material. Ash has also been recording and performing with Venture Lift, Les Bicyclettes Blanches, and Aria Pullman.

Peggy Atwood, Terri Massardo, and Elly Wininger were friends before they were a ‘girl group.’ They were hanging out in the same café, and when one of them was on stage, the other two would sing harmony from their seats. After realizing how good it sounded, they started getting together in each other’s homes once a week to sing, and The Cover Girlz were born. To the delight of all who knew them individually, they started playing out together. When they began to add original material to their repertoire, they became The Jesse Janes and have been riding together ever since.

The BEREZNAK BROTHERS BAND is a dynamic and genre-bridging group fronted by twin brother singer-songwriter-guitarists Michael & David Bereznak sharing lead & harmony vocals. These brothers have literally been living for music since they were six years old, and it shows! The band swings from heartland rock to raspy acoustic ballads as the Bereznaks share their stories with their audience, reminiscent of country music performers (minus the twang!). Last time the Bereznak Brothers came to our stage, they packed the cafe for a memorable show, so come see what the buzz is about!

Kevin KINNEY, a relatively new singer-songwriter with coffeehouse roots, has joined Jeffrey STORMS, a self-taught guitarist with years of experience and spanning several different genres of music. With diverse backgrounds and a shared passion, their style incorporates an addictive fusion of folk, pop and rock. Rachel Beard, a classically trained cellist, adds a round, compelling dynamic to the group.
