SUNY Ulster Theater Department will present “Godspell,” a 1970s rock musical based on the Gospel of Matthew, with eight live performances next month at the Quimby Theater on the Stone Ridge campus. Show dates are July 9-11 and July 16-18 at 8 p.m.; July 12 and 19 at 3 p.m.
One of the biggest all-time hits on Broadway, the play written by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak is a pageant reflecting on the life of Jesus by ten performers. The performance will feature such hits as Day by Day and Turn Back, O Man.
Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for students and seniors. Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning June 23 through July 18, and one hour before show performances. For information, call (845) 688-1959.

Art Hightower is the founder / drummer of the group. Art received his musical training in Florida A & M University. He has performed and toured as a stage and studio musician.. A jazz drummer and percussionist for more than 20 years. Art was the drummer for the 25th anniversary national tour of “Ain’t Mis’behavin.”
Bill Conway is a bassist, composer, arranger and teacher. Bill was born in New York City and attended both New York University and The University of Wisconsin where he received his degree in double¬ bass performance.
Carl Viggiani is a pianist and composer whose music encompasses a wide range of styles. Trained in the western classical piano tradition, he has also studied jazz and popular mu¬sic extensively. As a jazz pianist, he performs frequently throughout the New York metropolitan area.

One of the most sought-after musicians in the jazz, rock, and blues arenas, Collins is a familiar fixture as a longtime member of both the Levon Helm Band and Gregg Allman & Friends. Jay is also known for his saxophone and flute work with the Allman Brothers Band, Andrew Hill, James Hunter, Jacky Terrasson, Bobby Sanabria, and the late LeRoy Vinnegar.
Now a Woodstock resident, Jay uses his gritty, unique voice and his bluesy horn to mix up blues, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and funky New Orleans style into a modern patchwork of roots-bound sound.  An annual celebration of smalltown America, High Falls Fair Day also reminds us of the effort needed to preserve our community. The entire hamlet will be buzzing from morning to evening, starting with a parade (2008) at 10 am down Rt 213 featuring a float competition. Local craftspeople and vendors will be on hand. The Community Church will hold their annual Chicken Barbecue and the Civic Association and local restaurants will again have a "Taste of High Falls". For kids, there are games, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a pie-eating contest. There will be live music all day in the parking lot of the High Falls Cafe.

They started working together the following Saturday and Hiroshi has raised the level of music for Doug to unimagined heights. The year culminated with a piano recital at the Westchester Conservatory of Music in White Plains where the people in attendance were treated to a wonderful night of music.

 Drawing on such diverse sources as classical, world music, American art song, as well as the thinking man's folk-pop, Mary Fahl, the former lead singer of the acclaimed alt-pop band "October Project," sings in an earthy, viscerally powerful contralto that Boston Globe critic Steve Morse calls "a voice for the gods." Since her October Project days, Fahl has recorded albums for Sony Classical and V2 Records and will perform some of those songs, several new works, as well as an October Project song or two. Mary performs this show as an acoustic trio with Glenn Patscha and Byron Isaacs of "Ollabelle."

 Another 12 Grapes "Unplugged Sunday", featuring three acoustic artists performing in alternating sets:
Steve Chizmadia (pictured here) is a 2003 Kerrville New Folk finalist. In 2005 his song "This Old Town" received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. He has showcased at Northeast Regional Folk Alliance in New York, and we look forward to his performance tonight.
Bill Kelly calls himself "Mr. Americana". He sings from the heart; a folk singer who's truly entertaining and engaging. His CD, "Bread on the Waters" is filled with great songs. One reviewer writes, "He has the voice and pen of a true artist, with a great sense of melody."
Ann Gulian at keyboard keep things interesting. Her voice makes you stop and take notice; her delivery is as professional as any world-renowned songstress. Every song on her CD is a hit. We especially love "More than a Minute" and "Love Tries So Hard". Come get to know Ann and her songs.

 JUDE JOHNSTONE's songs have been covered by a list of artists that includes Emmylou Harris, Stevie Nicks and Bonnie Rait. She penned five songs for Trisha Yearwood, including Yearwood's #1 hit, The Woman Before Me, which was recognized with a BMI Songwriters Award. She also wrote the title cut of Johnny Cash's Grammy-winning album "Unchained." Johnstone has recorded four CDs of her own, receiving wide critical acclaim. Several of Johnstone's recordings have been heard in soundtracks including the new Showtime series Nurse Jackie.
