Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass are perhaps the best traditional Bluegrass band in the United States today. This will be their first appearance in Rockland County and their first ever house concert.
Danny is the son of legendary Bob Paisley and took over leadership of the band when his father passed away 5 years ago. He has since raised the level of this already famous group to new heights and has recorded 2 albums on the Rounder label. Our guest emcee for the afternoon will be Carol Beaugard, host of the radio station WFDU FM program " Lonesome Pine RFD". The suggested donation for this event is $20 per person. Ann Gulian (pictured here) is a talented keyboard player, singer and songwriter whose song list includes some very moving originals. Ann has a professional repertoire and knows how to keep her audience entertained and engaged with her lyrical voice. Manny Cortez is a veteran 12 Grapes Singer/Songwriter, and a talented guitarist. His vocals are reminiscent of Cat Stevens and his sets are always enjoyable. Manny's just cut his own CD and will be treating us to a few of his originals tonight, as well as some favorite covers. Sheri Miller lives in NYC and performs at many popular NY clubs. Sheri's voice and guitar work is described as "hypnotic bluesy American soul meets classic British melodic-pop." Since then, Esposito has appeared on stage and on record with many favorite area musicians and songwriters such as Garth Hudson, Jim Wieder, Bar Scott, Julie Last, and the late-great Artie Traum to name but a few. Frank is one of the most accomplished, multi-dimensional players walking the planet today. Monster player, composer and improviser, Frank plays proficiently in every genre, from jazz to bluegrass, and works with everyone and their brother. Frank's pedigree is a mile long, but a quick Google will illustrate why he is considered one of the best on the planet. Whether he is featured on a Donald Fagen recording, a jam with David Grisman, as Les Paul's right hand man or leading his own groups throughout the years, he has proved himself to be in the elite creating his own unique sound. As a young adult, Vignola studied at the Cultural Arts Center of Long Island and went on to enjoy an enormous amount of sideman gigs in the 1980s including recording and touring with the likes of Madonna, Leon Redbone, Ringo Starr as well as coming into his own as a leader in 1988 with his famed Hot Club of France tribute which was hailed in the NY Times as one of the top ten acts in 1988 and forged the way for the many Django Hot Club groups that followed. Frank has written 18 guitar instruction books for Mel Bay Publications and has recorded several CDROM educational products for Truefire.com. He has performed hundreds of clinics and masterclasses at major universities and colleges throughout the country including Julliard and Boston University. Help raise money for Thomas Hajba, who lost his legs on April 17th in a tragic motorcycle accident just minutes from his home on Lucas Avenue in Hurley. The family of Thomas Hajba is hosting this event to raise money to help offset some of the medical expenses anticipated during his long recovery process. Raffles and prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
