Sunday 7:00 pm | "Come Back To Me" - Jeanne Celebrates Miss Peggy Lee with Jeanne MacDonald Cabaret | Bodles Opera House 39 Main Street Chester, NY See Map |
Jeanne MacDonald Celebrates Miss Peggy Lee NY TIMES critic Stephen Holden writes that "Watching a singer like Jeanne MacDonald, who brings an emotional balance, a subtle, good humored sexiness and originality to everything she sings, makes you realize the crucial role good instincts play..." In her highly acclaimed show "Come Back To Me," award-winning performer Jeanne MacDonald brings to Bodles a glowing celebration of Miss Peggy Lee. With Lee classics such as "Fever", "Black Coffee" and "It's A Good Day as" well as some of Lee's lesser known material, MacDonald proves herself an artist with both the sensibility and sensitivity to convey the essence of this legend, weaving her spell with finesse. Jeanne MacDonald has earned a reputation as one of NYC's finest singers in cabaret today. She is considered an honest interpreter of the lyric, "a lyricist’s dream" according to Cabaret Scenes' Peter Leavy, and her performances both in and out of the city have been recognized extensively. Renowned NY pianist David Budway joins MacDonald along with Latin Grammy nominated percussionist Mayra Casales and internationally acclaimed bassist Jennifer Vincent performing arrangements developed by Rick Jensen. Originally from Freeport, Long Island, NY, Jeanne MacDonald is a graduate of the Crane School of Music who now resides in Sullivan County and continues to share the joy of music with her students in the Minisink Valley School District in Orange County. 2008 MAC Award Winner -- 2008 New York City Nightlife Award Finalist -- 2005 Julie Wilson Award for Excellence in Cabaret -- 2004 New York City Nightlife Award Winner for Cabaret Vocalist -- 2004 MAC Award Winner for Female Vocalist -- BACK STAGE Bistro Award Winner Web Site: www.jeannemacdonald.com Doors open at 5:30 pm Tickets: $40.00 Dinner & Show / $25.00 Show Only Order online or call 845-469-4595 for reservations. Lisa Dudley has a passionate following of soldiers and veterans. Perhaps a signature song that best identifies who she is would be "Angel On My Shoulder" which is her most requested song. Her loyal following of fans love to hear her sing the songs that celebrate life, love and loss including an inspirational collection of "soft gospel". Songs like "Praise God for The Rain", "Use Me In A Mighty Way", and "I Will Rise Up Singing" have become standards in churches where she plays. With songs like "Twenty-One Guns","Broken Purple Heart", and "You Do The Job Right", the men in her audience - from soldiers to senators - get a feeling of empathy and appreciation seldom enjoyed in their own lives. The women in the audience also appreciate songs like "She Bought Your Love","Gotta Cut You Loose", and "Dangerous Curves" - a boot-stomping song about the power of a woman's body - which gives them the feeling that someone understands what's important to them too.

Friday 8:00 pm | A Great CO-BILL ! with Deni Bonet, Project Mercury | Bodles Opera House 39 Main Street Chester, NY See Map |
Deni Bonet, Lilith Fair performing artist, is a singer/songwriter and classically-trained violinist who quit the classical world early in her career because she hated having to wear black and sit still! Deni has either recorded or performed with REM, Sarah McLachlan, Chris Whitley, Cyndi Lauper, Daniel Lanois, Gravity Kills & Robyn Hitchcock amongst many others. She was an original member of the cast of the nationally syndicated radio show, MOUNTAIN STAGE; singing and performing in her own right and accompanying guests on the show - anyone from Richard Thompson to the Indigo Girls to Warren Zevon to Allen Toussaint. Project Mercury "Hudson Valley Magazine's Best New Band of 2006" officially launched in 1998 when Nyack singer, songwriter and guitarist Marian Mastrorilli teamed up with Albany violinist and vocalist Charlene Donohue. After spending a year backed by an electric rock band, the duo refocused into acoustic mode to better cast the spotlight on their intricate harmonies, violin and sensitive lyrics. Guitarist Craig Fox signed on in January '03, bringing a third voice into the mix; cellist Jeanne DaSilva added to their evolution in January '05, transforming Project Mercury into a string quartet! The band is a harmonious unit both literally and personally, and their camaraderie comes across loud and clear onstage as they include the audience in on their fun. Three distinct voices take turns in the spotlight and back one another for lush harmonies: Marian's airy soprano, Charlene's earthy alto and Craig's rich baritone. Jeanne's cello and basslines interweave with violin over a backdrop of solid acoustic guitar work. Web Sites: www.denibonet.com www.projectmercury.net Doors open at 6:30 pm Tickets: Advance $15.00 / Day of Show $18.00 Order online or call 845-469-4595 for reservations. Directions To Bodles
