Musing about the band's sound, band member Keith Roberts sums up the Young Dubliners' approach to their music, be it Celtic, rowdy pub tunes, Irish-flavored anthemic rock ...or just plain rock: "I like to think that our take on songwriting & performance makes the Young Dubliners' sound unique and original. Our band is made up of Irish and American natives who draw influences from just about everywhere. Our strength is in the sum of our parts." The Young Dubliners, who have become notorious for the whirling "jig pits" that erupt at their shows, have headlined tours in the US and Europe, as well as opening for acts such as Jethro Tull, John Hiatt and Robert Cray. They've also been joined in the studio by musicians like Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull, and Eric Rigler of Titanic and Braveheart fame. The Young Dubliners even revved up the crowd at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.

 This month sees the triumphant return of The Organiks to B.I.'s Backstage at The Boiceville Inn in Boiceville, NY. The boys have kept busy since they opened our Thursday Night Rock 'n' Roll Dance Party last March. Bruce Katz (Gregg Allman, John Hammond, Levon Helm) and Chris Vitarello have just returned from Europe with The Bruce Katz Band, where they played festival dates with Mick Fleetwood and Ray Davies. Drummer Randy Ciarlante (The Band, Jim Weider's Honky Tonk Gurus) just returned from headlining the Peach Jam Music Festival, and sax player, Jay "King" Collins (James Hunter) has been on the road with his father-in-law, Levon Helm, playing the Newport Folk Festival and dates with Phil Lesh. These guys always have a rollicking good time at their favorite venue, and this month will be no exception. Come early for dinner and stay late dancing on the spacious dance floor. Full bar. Always $5 at the door.

 Alasdair Fraser, long regarded as Scotland's premier fiddle ambassador, and the sizzlingly-talented young California cellist Natalie Haas play Scottish music of unrivalled beauty, eloquence and passion. Tony Dekker, the singer/songwriter behind Great Lake Swimmers, released his third full-length album “Ongiara” in 2007. Like the first two critically acclaimed albums (”Great Lake Swimmers” in 2003, and “Bodies and Minds” in 2005), “Ongiara” continues to explore the worlds of indie folk, roots music and alt-country pop, with a focus on lyrics and the craft of songwriting. The new songs are largely inspired by a number of themes, including Canada’s majestic natural environment and our reciprocal relationship with the land; grace and understanding in life journeys; and the cycle of living and dying. Great Lake Swimmers have been compared to Nick Drake, Iron and Wine, Red House Painters, and Neil Young. They were awarded the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Galaxie Rising Star Award in March 2005 and were voted Favourite Folk/Roots Artist at the 2004 Canadian Independent Music Awards. The band was recently chosen to serve as opening act for Robert Plant and Allison Krause.

Los Hermanos Morenos will be performing LIVE on Saturday August 30th at 20/20 on 211. This posh Bar/Lounge is conveniently located in Middletown. The party starts at 9pm and goes all night with food and drink specials. 20/20 on 211 is the only bar/lounge in Upstate New York bringing you this type of music and atmosphere!

Kairos: A Consort of Singers will present Cantata No. 27, Wer weiss, wie nahe mir mein Ende? (Who knows how near my end is to me?), with chamber orchestra. The concert will also feature Archangelo Corelli's Violin Sonata Op. 5, No. 3. The concert is free to the public (free-will offering gratefully accepted). The cantata and instrumental work will be performed as part of a choral evensong service. The Bach Cantata Series is supported in part by a grant from the Dutchess County Council for the Arts.
