I sing. I write songs. I play guitar. I'm a native New Yorker. I established myself as singer, songwriter and guitarist for Brooklyn's indie rockers, The Nerve! over it's 10 year career. I am now exploring the uncharted territory of a new solo career. I'm totally immersing myself in the New York scene, singing and playing just an acoustic guitar and harmonica almost every night of the week at various bars, cafes and cabarets all over town and out of town. You can also catch me on any given day busking underground in the New York City subway system. In November 2007 I received an artist grant from the Broken Wing Foundation.

Get Wet and Wild like Frankie and Annette used to. Well . . . maybe not.

They probably won't be playing Beach Blanket Bingo, and we're NOT doing a cover of Annette's "Jo-Jo the Dog Faced Boy". But judging from their pics, the crew at The Anchor Pub know how to rock the boat and have a good time. We do too. So crawl out of your shell and join the fun!

Lifeguards will be on duty. Mouth-to-Mouth phone # 845-297-3330.

MATINEE
with RED ROOSTER, BANJO JACK, ANDY LAIRD
Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Although RED ROOSTER's roots remain firmly planted in Americana and Alt-Country, the band has created a highly original and urban-infused sound that has landed them a gig at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival.

BANJO JACK: There's no shortage of rock bands carving out a niche with unconventional lineups these days, but by substituting banjo for the guitar and pushing the limits of the instrument's versatility, BANJO JACK seamlessly bridges the expanse between traditional and modern. With a completely unique ensemble that adds pedal steel, bass and drums, they have emerged as an unlikely player in the NYC roots revival scene.

ANDY LAIRD blends emotional intensity with a pop sensibility to create a unique form of soulful, alternative rock. His songs have been featured on MTV and radio stations across the country, including NYC's WFUV, and has been Featured Artist of the Week on WERS in Boston.

As a singer songwriter, Susans style draws on many strains of roots based music, from blues to country. Returning to her roots as a solo performer, her songs include historical ballads, blues inflected melodies, and up tempo country flavored tunes. A performing member of the Tribes Hill music collective, she has been a featured artist at a number of recent festivals in the tri-state area. Recently she sat in with Steve Kirkman here at Dockside. After hearing her sing one song, I knew I had to book her. I am sure you will agree with me. There is no cover for this perfomance, come, enjoy and show your appreciation.

Ritz Theatre

Hawley, PA   See Map
based on the character of Don Juan, perhaps the most notorious womanizer in all literature. Don Giovanni comes alive as a character one cannot help but love and hate simultaneously. This opera, considered by some as the most perfect wedding of music and drama, presents a fine balance of the comic and tragic aspects of his amorous exploits. This production is sung in Italian with supertitles, costumed and fully staged with chamber orchestra conducted by Dr. Jim Blanton. The cast includes baritone Jeremy Moore in the title role, bass Eric Barsness as Leoporello, soprano Julie Ziavras, as Donna Anna, soprano Jean Marie Lowell as Donna Elvira, tenor Erik Sparks as Don Ottavio, soprano Sibongile Boyd as Zerlina, baritone Jeffrey Seppala as Masetto, and bass Tom Caltabellotta as the Commendatore. Tickets: $25/22/15 and can be ordered online at www.dv-opera.org, or by calling (845) 252-7272. For special rates on groups of 20 people or more, call (845) 252-3136.

When it comes to Sonny Landreth, who performed last July at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, even Eric Clapton is a fan - "He's probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced." Another long overdue nod came in the form of a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Recording. In a world where truly great guitar players dot the globe like so many pinnacles on Earth's surface, Sonny Landreth seems to float artfully, impossibly above.

GEOFF HARTWEL is an NY guitarist, songwriter, teacher and clinician. In 2007 he taught a seminar in Austin called "Sounds of the Slide Guitar Masters" with special guests Sonny Landreth and Cindy Cashdollar. He has also "distinguished himself as an up and coming musician and songwriter with some serious slide guitar chops." -More Sugar Magazine.
