They took the name from the color of the Golden Gate Bridge, a fact delivered on a Snapple cap while hanging at a favorite Brooklyn bagel joint.

Yes, there are global flavors here, (the product of the members having spent time in Brazil, India, Africa, The Caribbean, Middle East), but the takeaway is distinctly American, filtered through decades of life in New York City, and careers steeped in Jazz and Blues and Funk. - Midwest Music Report
