Friday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Old Punks Don't Die, They Go Country with Scoot Horton Folk/Traditional, Country, and Americana | Peekskill Coffee House 101 South St Peekskill, NY See Map |
Come out and see Scoot Horton's return to Peekskill Coffee House with special guest Marlena Peters. They will be playing originals and covers. “Old Punks Don’t Die, They Go Country” is not only a line in one of Scoot Horton’s songs, but it describes Scoot as well. After spending 20 years playing and touring in various punk bands Scoot unplugged his guitar and went acoustic, releasing his debut CD “Six 2 Seven” to positive reviews in 2015. Scoot spent much time in the New York City Hardcore Punk scene, some of that influence naturally comes out in songs like “Life and Hope” and “Bank Man.” And people have noticed. He has been described as the Sex Pistols meet Woody Guthrie. Which makes sense because Scoot’s influences are Bob Dylan, Johnny Rotten, Joe Strummer, and the Carter Family. Scoot plays folk/country as he hears it and what he writes comes with an edge. He calls it Outlaw Folk. Which is short, sweet, and to the point.

In 1981, The Manhattan Transfer became the first vocal group to win Grammy Awards in the pop and jazz categories in one year: Best Pop Performance by Duo or Group with Vocal for “Boy From New York City” (a cover of the 1964 song by The Ad Libs), and Best Jazz Performance by a Duo or Group for “Until I Met You (Corner Pocket).”
Now consisting of Janis Siegel (alto), Alan Paul (tenor), Cheryl Bentyne (soprano), and newcomer Trist Cureless (bass) who replaced Hauser following his passing on October 16, 2014, the group is proud to extend Hauser’s vision more than four decades later.

The Kingston Trio consists of George Grove, Bill Zorn, and Rick Doughtery. The Kingston Trio was the number one vocal group in the world, a musical and cultural phenomenon whose record sales and concert draws were matched only by The Beatles. The Kingston Trio’s trademark three-part harmony and clean, crisp sound keeps them touring 30 weeks out of the year. George Grove’s orchestral arrangements allow The Trio to perform with symphony concerts, which have become a fan favorite. Ray Cardwell is a Nashville-based artist from the Missouri Ozarks who sings original, roots-based “Bluegrass Soul” music. Cardwell has spent his life forging a musical path built on the bedrock of a bluegrass rhythm section, beginning with performances as a teen in a family bluegrass band. He explored new wave, reggae, Motown, blues, rockabilly, gospel, classical, jazz, musical theatre, and marching band music before returning to bluegrass—incorporating many of his influences on the way back. Cardwell has the kind of voice and stage presence that leaves an audience spellbound. A prolific songwriter, Ray’s powerful, four-octave voice is what first caught the ears of producer/legendary guitarist Pat Flynn (New Grass Revival) in 2015. Since its January 2017 release on Pinecastle Records, Tennessee Moon (the name of the album, as well as Ray’s band), has scored major success with singles and album charts at Bluegrass Today, the Roots Music Report, and the Folk DJ list.
