Peekskill, NY   See Map
"Bright-On! Get out of your comfort zone and into a new groove with The Brighton Beat. Every song takes the listener to a new world, where the natives are happy. It's a Jazz evolution, not the same old Afro-Beat business. If The Brighton Beat doesn't sound like any other band you've heard, you're right." - Iconoclast Magazine

NYC / Boston's freshest Afrobeat-Jazz group, The Brighton Beat is a positive Afrobeat force, aimed at getting the crowd dancing and bootys shaking. Heavily influenced by Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, but in no way traditional, the group creates grooves reminiscent of Herbie Hancock, at times reaching the raw, unbridled expression found in the music of Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard.

In addition to outstanding musicianship, the group adds another level of instrumentation to their Jazz-meets-Afrobeat style by way of unique vocalizations. The energy and enthusiasm this band brings to the stage unparalleled.

with Josh Roy Brown & John Holt
Americana. originals, etc.
Zephyr Restaurant
302 Main Street
Pine Hill, NY   See Map
A long time multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter John Holt follows one strict rule with his craft. “I like to try and blaze my own trail with it all, let the songs be what they will and not go for any specific sound.”

Holt’s Woodstock New York-based project, Hallow Dog, has begun to gain a reputation as just that… undeniably original and completely captivating. Songs that explore the wilderness of life outside the box with all of its gifts and curses both real and imagined.

With Holt on vocals, acoustic guitar and mandolin and Josh Roy Brown on lap steel they'll use sonic space and dynamic tonal interplay to create moody soundscapes for Holt’s spellbinding vocal delivery.

Fast becoming a favorite in the Hudson Valley and beyond, they will take you on a magic carpet ride from lonely mountain ballad to stone cold funk and all the stops between.

That, plus Zephyr's delicious American comfort food, and this'll be a day you'll remember!

"Greetings from Asbury Park" with Robt Sarazin Blake & The Letters + Connor Kennedy
Americana, Folk/Traditional, and Acoustic
The Colony Cafe
22 Rock City Rd
Woodstock, NY   See Map
First set: music from Robt Sarazin Blake's new double album, Recitative Second set, along with Connor Kennedy & The Package: Bruce Springsteen's Greetings from Asbury Park—start to finish!

Over 20 years into making music, Blake celebrates his unusual song forms, which land between spoken word, folk song, rock song, and theatrical installation, with the title of his new double album, Recitative. Recitative, also known by its Italian name “recitativo,” is a style of delivery in which a singer is allowed to adopt the rhythms of ordinary speech—a style that permeates Blake’s music over the folk- and blues-inspired rock laid down by his backing band.

The Letters—Connor Kennedy on guitar, Lee Falco on drums, Brandon Morrison on bass, and Will Bryant on piano—represent the next generation of the “Hudson Valley sound” started by Bob Dylan and The Band. The list of where they’ve played is tall and long, from Levon’s Barn to Carnegie Hall.

Old Punks Don't Die, They Go Country
with Scoot Horton
Folk/Traditional, Country, and Americana
Peekskill Coffee House
101 South St
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Come out and see Scoot Horton's return to Peekskill Coffee House with special guest Marlena Peters. They will be playing originals and covers.

“Old Punks Don’t Die, They Go Country” is not only a line in one of Scoot Horton’s songs, but it describes Scoot as well. After spending 20 years playing and touring in various punk bands Scoot unplugged his guitar and went acoustic, releasing his debut CD “Six 2 Seven” to positive reviews in 2015. Scoot spent much time in the New York City Hardcore Punk scene, some of that influence naturally comes out in songs like “Life and Hope” and “Bank Man.” And people have noticed. He has been described as the Sex Pistols meet Woody Guthrie. Which makes sense because Scoot’s influences are Bob Dylan, Johnny Rotten, Joe Strummer, and the Carter Family. Scoot plays folk/country as he hears it and what he writes comes with an edge. He calls it Outlaw Folk. Which is short, sweet, and to the point.

In 1981, The Manhattan Transfer became the first vocal group to win Grammy Awards in the pop and jazz categories in one year: Best Pop Performance by Duo or Group with Vocal for “Boy From New York City” (a cover of the 1964 song by The Ad Libs), and Best Jazz Performance by a Duo or Group for “Until I Met You (Corner Pocket).” Now consisting of Janis Siegel (alto), Alan Paul (tenor), Cheryl Bentyne (soprano), and newcomer Trist Cureless (bass) who replaced Hauser following his passing on October 16, 2014, the group is proud to extend Hauser’s vision more than four decades later.

ROBT SARAZIN BLAKE & THE LETTERS: Over 20 years into making music, Blake celebrates his unusual song forms, which land between spoken word, folk song, rock song, and theatrical installation, with the title of his new double album, Recitative. Recitative, also known by its Italian name “recitativo,” is a style of delivery in which a singer is allowed to adopt the rhythms of ordinary speech—a style that permeates Blake’s music over the folk- and blues-inspired rock laid down by his backing band.

ADRIEN REJU: With years of sharing the stage with artists like Neko Case, Rachael Yamagata, Nicole Atkins, Gillian Welch, Linda Rondstadt, and Amos Lee, Woodstock, New York singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Adrien Reju continues to build an evolving and impressive career in music. Now she's expanding her art into new realms with the release of her latest studio project, Strange Love & the Secret Language. an album being billed as "a collection of unconventional love songs."
