The Falcon reminds me of my favorite places in the 50s when I played in Greenwich Village with the bands of Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Pettiford; when Jack Kerouac and I gave the first-ever jazz-poetry readings in NYC; when I played with Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Odetta and Pete Seeger in the 60s, and was composing for the Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Arthur Miller’s "After the Fall" and Joe Papp’s NY Shakespeare Festival, as well as creating film scores for "Splendor in the Grass" and "The Manchurian Candidate". I played with the great singer-songwriters of the time, with Middle Eastern and Native American musicians, and in the 70s, with the great Latin-jazz events." - David Amram

With a simple Martin D-35 guitar, banjo, harmonica, his own voice and the voices of the audience, Spook presents good honest acoustic songs that are true to the spirit, passion and purpose of American folk music. He has toured throughout North America and has five full length CDs to his credit. Hudson Valley Folk Guild
Saturday 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm | Walkabout Clearwater Chorus and Coffeehouse with Garnet Rogers Folk/Traditional | Memorial United Methodist Church 250 Bryant Avenue White Plains, NY See Map |
Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "charismatic performer and singer", Garnet is a man with a powerful physical presence - close to six and a half feet tall - with a voice to match. With his "smooth, dark baritone, his incredible range, and thoughtful, dramatic phrasing, Garnet is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere" (Washington Post). His music, like the man himself, is literate, passionate, highly sensitive, and deeply purposeful. Cinematic in detail, "his songs give expression to the unspoken vocabulary of the heart" (Kitchener Waterloo Record). An optimist at heart, Garnet sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again. For tickets and more information

Robbie Dupree began his music career singing on the street corners of Brooklyn. His passion for music flourished in the rich, creative atmosphere of the late 1960s. Moving to New York City during these exciting days, Robbie dedicated himself to songwriting and the pursuit of a solo career. He studied the work of R&B legends such as Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Their powerful rhythms and sensual melodies became the foundation of Robbie’s emerging style, which would take him through several ensembles in the city and eventually to Woodstock, where he garnered national acclaim with his songs"Steal Away", "Hot Rod Hearts", "Brooklyn Girls", and "When You're Down." Robbie released his debut album in 1978, earning two Top Ten singles and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and has continued to record and perform through "Anthology Live 1998-2014" in 2015. Dupree anticipates a new album release in 2018. Blue Monday: https://youtu.be/hOovrLmZM_o
