“By any other word would smell as sweet. But, soft! What light through yonder window break? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.”-Romeo. Embroiled in a feud ignited by their own families, Romeo and Juliet find their world at odds between an unwavering devotion to each other and the pressure from others to pull them apart. This 90 –minute production also features a talkback with the actors. Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s ROMEO AND JULIET will be set in a New England prep school. The Montague’s and Capulet’s are elite families who have sent their children to this school for generations. While united by class, they are bitterly divided by tradition and ideology. There are rifts and tensions at the school involving wealthy students and scholarship students, parents and children, teachers and staff. The Nurse is Juliet’s nanny; the friars are faculty.

BernardThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Which musician did Aretha Franklin definitely NOT want missing from the line-up when she recorded her most inspired albums at the beginning of the seventies. Who provided the back-beat for Steely Dan's "Aja", and for whom have Isaac Hayes, Donny Hathaway, B.B. King, "Sweet" Lou Donaldson, Joe Cocker and Hank Crawford reserved that stool behind the drum kit?

The list is incomplete; it must be, because no other drummer in the last three decades has seen the interior of a recording studio as often as Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. A native of Elkton, Maryland has laid down the beat on over 3000 albums to date.

The legendary drummer's style is described as the "funkiest soul beat" in the business. Purdie has never limited his talents, but has consistently sought out new musical experiences, anchoring sessions with the Rolling Stones, James Brown and Tom Jones with equal ease. "DRIVE" and "GROOVE" are definitely not missing from his vocabulary.

Featuring: Jeremy Danneman/alto sax and clarinet. Brad Farberman/guitar, Joe Exley,/sousaphone and Mike Marcinowski/drums

Brad Farberman's ensemble, Middle Blue, is heard monthly at Troost, in Brooklyn, heating things up with its funk-jazz instrumentals. Powered by bass, drums, guitar, keyboards, and horns, the tunes are dream-like journeys, coming from the Medeski, Martin & Wood-Club d'Elf-Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey-end of the sound spectrum.

They've played a few gigs, and have recorded, with drummer, Mike Clark (Headhunters). Farberman has performed in ensembles led by Ras Moshe, William Parker, Rhys Chatham, and Jason Kao Hwang. His writing has appeared in outlets ranging from JazzTimes to the Village Voice, and is a former editor at Genius.

Maverick Magazine calls Lynne Hanson, “Canadian country music at its best.” SiriusXM Canada says: “ Hanson's deep bluesy croon is pure and full of fortitude" and Roots Music Report writes: “A thread of quiet urgency runs through Lynne Hanson’s songs."

The Indie Acoustic Project named Lynne's last full length CD, River Of Sand, Best Alt Country CD of 2014. The Cambridge Times said of Hanson at that time, “She’s made the only roots rock record of the year to hold a candle to Rosanne Cash’s 'The River and the Thread'..."

Lynne Hanson has also drawn comparisons to Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams. Hanson's new CD, Uneven Ground, will be out commercially this April 7th.

The concert will be held inside the intimate and acoustically exquisite old Empire State Railway Museum with seating for under 50. Tickets are $12 or $10 w/RSVP to flyingcatmusic@gmail.or call 845-688-9453

The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Featuring David Liebman/Sax, Bobby Avey/Piano, Matt Vashlishan/Reeds, Tony Marino/Bass and Alex Ritz/Drums

Throughout their 2017 performances, The Dave Liebman Group will feature music written and played by John Coltrane - celebrating the 90th year of his birth and 50th since his passing - covering the three periods of his short, yet extraordinary, career beginning with his tenure as a sideman in the Miles Davis Group; through the repertoire of the Classic Quartet (Tyner, Jones and Garrison); concluding with pieces from the late “free” jazz period.

Coltrane's body of work represents a pinnacle of achievement in the 20th century exerting an influence that goes beyond jazz both spiritually and musically. For Liebman, seeing Coltrane live on many occasions in NYC inspired him to pursue this music.

A TWO-TIME BEST OF WESTCHESTER WINNER for "Best Karaoke". Featuring the 12 Grapes house band for your dancing and listening pleasure!

12 Grapes' Live Band Karaoke puts you center stage, singing with a live band and even back-up singers. It's way more fun than singing to a pre-recorded track.

We have nearly 200 songs on our list, including '70s, '80s, '90s and contemporary pop/rock/soul. Choose songs from Aretha to Adele, Stevie Wonder to Steppenwolf, AC/DC to Weezer and everything in between! The band does two sets - sign up to sing one song per set. You'll be cheering and singing along, song after song.

If you have any questions about our LBK, feel free to call: 914-737-6624. Join our Mailing List and receive the LBK song list each month.

The Doors & More! Featuring: John Henriksen/Vocals, Barry Petrillo/Guitar, Brian Fores/Keyboards, Frank Casciaro/Bass, Jude DeFalco/Drums

Their performances have been called "spooky, in their accuracy", “unbelievable”, and "electrifying". Upstate New York’s, Feast of Friends is not your typical "parody" tribute act. No retro costumes, wigs or Jim Morrison look-alike holding a golden microphone.

Feast of Friends masterfully perform all of the band's most popular classics and deeper tracks for the most dedicated Doors fans as well as performing their original music, reminiscent of The Doors’ unmistakable sound.

The time to hesitate is over. Step back in time on a mind-bending journey to the here and now and experience the unparalleled “live action” that is Feast of Friends!
